This is why I stick with local restaurants.

It is still expensive but I get bigger portions in return.

I am just not buying the slop. Bring food from home as much as possible.

People have been conditioned in accepting mediocre food.

We go out to eat maybe once or twice a month, because the wife likes to dress up nice. End up spending $150+. App, 1-2 drinks each, dinner, sometimes split a dessert. End up leaving feeling like shite after, wanting to just go home and go to bed. Just not an enjoyable experience

Much rather eat at home, stick to our macros, maybe have a glass of wine and watch something together on the couch on Friday/Saturday nights these days.

When all the other restaurants are making overpriced garbage, you might as well serve overpriced garbage in your resturant. There's no better alternative for people to eat.

Good thing that hasn't happened to Braums.

If you have heard of it.

We go out pretty often. Usually get take outs from local restaurants. 2Js- the new one in Monroe is excellent, even Ray's PGs is back to being really good. Both serve enough to actually make close to 2 meals out of it.

Not only does the food suck, but the service seems worse than ever too

That may be true for franchise, chain restaurants, but really doesn’t apply to restaurants in Nola, Nashville, etc., and other big cities with good dining.

I go every Thursday to a place called Simple Simon's Pizza.

They offer a buffet during the evening and they know exactly the custom made pizzas that I want when I walk in.

Yes the video did mention the hiring of less employees from high school or college and more employees with drug addictions.

Without watching: Sysco provides the same slop to all the restaurants
They also just purchased a massive supplier, almost ensuring further enshitification.

Sysco also offers services to “improve” menus and streamline costs which has basically turned all restaurants into the same thing.

This is only partially correct. I spent 2 years as a rep for Sysco. Restaurants buy the same slop from Sysco because most of them are trying to get the cheapest ingredients they can. So they by the cheaper Sysco branded products. Sysco does also have higher quality items available but it’s just not what they push the hardest.
This isn’t just a “food” issue.

They also offer consulting services which standardize restaurants to optimize profits, which essentially makes everything the same.

Globally equal crap.

this is where I’m at.

Instead of wasting money on the same tired slop and poor service from restaurants these days, give me $50-60 bucks to spend at HEB for fresh ingredients and I’ll turn it into something my family of 4 can eat twice on. I’d rather eat those leftovers than “go out to eat” these days.

Once a month, wifey and I will get a babysitter and go somewhere nice where we know the food is quality and the service is acceptable. Otherwise, I’ll pass.

It’s the poors and lazy people who keep these places alive nowadays.
