The Day the Dinosaurs Died........

quote:
If, on a certain evening about sixty-six million years ago, you had stood somewhere in North America and looked up at the sky, you would have soon made out what appeared to be a star. If you watched for an hour or two, the star would have seemed to grow in brightness, although it barely moved. That’s because it was not a star but an asteroid, and it was headed directly for Earth at about forty-five thousand miles an hour. Sixty hours later, the asteroid hit. The air in front was compressed and violently heated, and it blasted a hole through the atmosphere, generating a supersonic shock wave. The asteroid struck a shallow sea where the Yucatán peninsula is today. In that moment, the Cretaceous period ended and the Paleogene period began.
Changes our view on what happened that started the path that lead to us humans?

Very interesting article if you like this type of stuff.
This guy found a spot that pretty preserved the day, if not the hour, the Big Asteroid hit the Yucatan Peninsula over 66,000,000 years ago.
Also, I believe he has proof that some dinosaurs had "feathers".

I bet I’ve seen better asteroids in the quad.

Pretty interesting! For some reason, I always consider this playing out over the milennia...but if our theory is correct, it did all change int he blink of an eye.

There's posters on the poliboard that believe this.

Point Proven. Posters on the OT would rather discuss Bret Hart and Wrestling over the creation of Mankind.

I’m still skeptical of the asteroid theory.
