Correct. Walmart with slanted spaces i'm pulling in head first in the back of the parking lot and walking. Straight spaces at Target i'm backing it in.

Just left my parking deck at work. A car was trying to back in to a spot and was holding up 6 cars. He took forever to back it in. Stupid.

it's not some retarded safety guy's idea to back into parking spots, it actually comes from the insurance companies requiring it

No, sir, you are wrong. It’s easier to see backing in between two cars because my mirrors will show the edges of the back of my truck. When I pull in forward, I cannot see over the hood. So backing up gives me more visibility.
However, this is not the reason backing up is easier. The reason is, when the wheels further out pivot, it’s easier to move the back of the truck into the space backing in. It’s because of the pivot of the wheels.

We aren’t backing in to get out easier, we are backing in to get in easier. …..unless …. Unless parking is tight from one row to the opposite row. Then having your wheels pivot at the same spot as they would backing in makes it much much much easier to get out forward. Because of how the truck pivots. I’ve been in tight situations where if I hadn’t backed in, I wouldn’t be able to pivot when getting out.

the psychology of back up parking is you are already in a driving mode, aware of your surroundings and will carefully back into the parking spot already knowing what is around you
if you back out of your parking spot, you are just getting into your vehicle, may have only partial awareness of your surroundings and it is harder to see who/what is in your peripherals.
plus first move forward means your initial movement while leaving allows you to see left, right, straight ahead easily so you can react easier and safer.
i hated the policy when it began but i am so used to it now that i back into my driveway at my house
