A highly dubious positive result, if you ask me.
The other samples from other countries puts it in their sewage in late 2019, which is more understandable.
Also, this is all under the assumption that China was honest about the start date in Wuhan of October/November 2019.

That's not "key." There's been plenty of junk to make it through peer review regarding the pandemic.
"Peer review" does not equate to "gospel truth."

Where it came from is only academically interesting. China's culpability lies, not primarily in the creation of the disease, but in their suppression of information about the spread.

Here's an easy resource. - Retraction Watch.
Obviously not all journals are created equally, but there is that pair from the same group that were retracted, one in The Lancet and the other in the New England Journal of Medicine, because they used made up data from Sugisphere.
Also, there was that one in Nature by the Imperial College modelling folks that attributed an ~80% decrease in virus transmission on the exact day countries enacted stay at home orders, showing that other, previous mitigation efforts didn't work. Yet, for some reason, Sweden had that same ~80% decrease in transmission despite not having a shutdown order, with those mitigation efforts that didn't work in other countries working for them...
(This paper was submitted March 30th, Accepted May 22nd, Published online June 8th, that means they started on this thing before it peaked in New York.)
There's this one from PNAS with various "experts" calling it out. (Those are three separate links.)
