The people there suck. Their leaders suck. It’s a horrible place.
ETA- Metairie sucks too, and so does Popeyes.

People can bitch about New Orleans and sure it has it issues, but as much as I have gone there, I just like it.

Someone start a Baton Rouge and Shreveport thread so we can go ahead and get this over with.

Sounds like a guy stuck in traffic rather than knowing another route out of St Bernard.

Nah. First 3 years after katrina was the best. It was so clean and not as crowded

If they do those, then we need a Hammond, Lafayette and Lake Charles hate thread as well.

The leaders suck for sure. A decent percentage of the people do indeed suck.
It has terrible infrastructure and a crime problem. Lived there in my younger days and loved it. Would never live there as a middle class homeowner with children.
That said, Walking around City Park October-May is a beautiful thing.
The first beats you hear of a drum line coming down the street at the first parade of Carnival season makes you feel that excitement of a child on Christmas morning.
As someone who frequently complains about the Yankee transplants, hipster douches, politicians, and the increasing issue of a "NOLA" caricature culture displacing any actual authentic New Orleans culture, I cannot agree that is is a "horrible place."
Shithole? Sure. Dangerous at times? Yep. Often frustrating to live in its metro area? Absolutely.
That said, it can be a pretty awesome place at times.

Eh. Most of the people there are friendly and fun to be around. It's just the vocal ones that won't shut up about how amazing New Orleans is and disregarding any slight to the city, however true, that suck.

That's a geaux tigers.

It's a charming place filled with history and great food that is plagued by ineptitude, apathy, and ignorance. I'd visit there any day of the week but I wouldn't live there.

Not me.
I think that NOLA is a Top Three[tm] city in America.. there is no better place to eat, drink, be merry and have a big time than New Orleans... but living there is a different ball of wax.. sold my house in Lakeview 2 yrs ago since, among other things, my SWB bill was $2400 for 3 months.. finally got it straightened out, but took way too much time and energy... also the photo traffic cams were sending me to the poorhouse; got three tickets for going 24 in a 20 mph school zone- on Sundays, when NO ONE is in school.
There were many other issues, way more than other cities i’ve lived in.. really glad i got out, i enjoy the City way more as a visitor than as a resident.
