How much R&D cost did they save by stealing IP though?

and there's the bulk of your answer

The government subsidizes Stolen IP with little to no standards or regulations.

I can’t imagine the number of items that won’t be functioning properly a month or two after the purchase of this car.

There are fewer things to break. AI gave me this quick answer when asking about moving parts in an EV versus ICE. China is setup well to excel in the EV markets.

quote:

Electric vehicles (EVs) have significantly **fewer moving parts** than internal combustion engine (ICE) cars. Here’s a comparison: ### **Typical Moving Parts Count:** - **EVs:** Around **20-30 moving parts** in the drivetrain (mainly in the electric motor, reduction gear, and wheels). - **ICE Cars:** Around **2,000+ moving parts** (including the engine, transmission, pistons, valves, timing belts, fuel system, exhaust system, etc.).

The Chinese are about to do a massive auto dump on Europe which in turn will put all of the European automobile manufacturers out of business.

They will deserve it for not listening to Trump.

That definitely is a bootleg Porsche. They are not even trying to hide it.

No it isn’t.

There is no demand nor infrastructure for it. And they’re as of yet, not the most reliable.

This is an incredibley shortsighted and ignorant take. There were over 4 times as many EVs sold worldwide than Ford and GM together sold ICE vehicles last year. You are thinking locally in a global economy, which is a significant part of what got us into the current trade deficit that we are in.

The point is, there is a market 3 times the size of the Big 3 combined ALREADY and it is growing quickly. Your attitude is why we will lose what could have been a very significant part of that market.

The number jumped to over 17 million in 2024.

When the first person came to a Chinese factory and asked them to make forks, they tooled up and made forks despite almost no domestic demand for them.

Like it or not, motors are the future of transportation, not engines, even if nobody in the US wants one.

Oh, it's coming.
Rivian and Lucid are real, the rest are ugly appliances.

That said, I'm sticking with ICE-based performance cars and trucks.

The missus next car will likely be an EV;
BMW, Lucid, or Cadillac.

The Chinese are masters of media manipulation. I would want to see one of these in person, for sale and avaiable to take home before I believe it's a real thing.

The dude selling it in that video seems like someone who would take money from our enemies. I don't believe him or the car.

And this is exactly why you don't see Chinese cars in countries that are their allies such ad Russia

Get back to us when the rebuild the whole fricking US Power grid and additional generating plants to handle the extra load.

Toyota did a studythat said if we started today it would be almost 30 years before we switch to total electric cars.

And on top of that Google the average US citizens mileage per year vs Europe.

Horse carriage makers said something similar when ICE engines came out.

This whole bias induced rant is why the US will lose in the EV sector. You can't think beyond your own doorstep. You are making arguments about the US domestic market while forgetting my analogy about the Chinese making forks.

The world EV market in 2024 bought more units than all the US car manufacturers sold in 2024. Look at the demand increase in the graph I posted and tell me a reason the US shouldn't have capitalized on the competative advantage we had in the sector. You can't think domestically in a world economy unless you want to get destroyed. If the rest of the world wants forks, don't foolishly just produce chopsticks.

The largest US car manufacturer in export value is BMW. They do that by building cars the rest of the world actually wants.

Is it? I’m 100% positive you’re wrong. The ONLY reason you don’t see a massive amount of Chinese vehicles in other countries is a lack of support for the vehicles. There are no dealerships to support the products after the sale. That is the number one reason. Otherwise, the Chinese would crush every other automaker. Contrary to the false beliefs of those on this site, their vehicles are extremely nice now and pass the same rigorous safety tests as those in Europe.

They are not built by slave labor (there are some real idiots on this site.) Their manufacturing plants don’t waste time and money on Union workers either which is a huge savings. Everything is robotic which minimizes mistakes and increases quality.

These misconceptions of China is why the USA continues to lag behind them in manufacturing growth. China is way more advanced than people believe. The same misconceptions that allowed Japan to advance in the USA. Yep, their cars sucked and then they changed their quality. Welcome to modern day China. Personally, I’m tired of being ripped off by “American” automakers building in Mexico because they owe all of their retiring Union workers full salaries till they die…and the quality sucks now.

Watch this guy learn about Chinese vehicles.

None of that matters in a global market. Because "we" have thought mainly about the domestic market we have lost the ability to export. Recognizing differences and preferences and providing those goods is what makes for trade deficits in a country's favor. The way to manufacturing superiority is building for every market that is financially feasible. Just look at China, they focus heavily on the world market and it is impossible to argue it hasn't worked.

I’m referring to all of the tech features in the vehicle. Extras that will undoubtedly fail.
