I think they are referring to the fact buttered rolls are sold at most any cafe, kiosk, store etc. In NYC.

I would make a crack about the rest of us advancing past a subsistence diet of bread and dairy products, but bagel and a schmear prevents me from doing so.

The pizza was GOOD in NYC, but I've had some really good NYC style pizza outside of the city. I'm still trying to find a bagel that matches up to what you can get at the little small delis that are all over the place.

My breakfast comes from a street cart every weekday morning. I'd say a large percentage of people order a roll with butter. The cart offers generic bagels, subpar croissants, or even no name white bread that taste better that the rolls.

Wait. Don't we have a poster named DinnerRoll? Or something of the sorts?

Wonder where that guy is from.

100%

I attended Episcopal in Baton Rouge for the 4th grade, haven't had a decent roll since.

Most pizza in NYC is a bland, doughy mess covered with goopy, processed cheese. However, if you find one of the old school brick-oven joints that makes a thin, crispy crust, that's where it's at.

Mention its name outside the New York metropolitan area and you would very likely be met with blank incomprehension.

Keep your shitty arse roll and shove it.

My kids favorite place for pizza couldn't beat Chuck E Cheese pizza in a blind taste test.

As far as the NYC rolls, it's not a dinner roll that has a similar consistency throughout. It's like a bun that goes flat when you hold it and tastes like the crust of white bread.

The article even states the buttered roll is nothing special, which makes it even more strange that you can buy them everywhere.

That's akin to saying no one outside of the south appreciates fried chicken.

School cafeteria rolls.

Abso-fricking-lutley.

We would literally fight over them in elementary school. Fist fights. No shite.

Piccadilly used to have a very suitable approximation, but our lunch lady at CHSPC rocked the shite outta some rolls.
