There is a time and place for lots of things. Brees had been told repeatedly by his teammates that their protests were not a sign of disrespect for the troops. Brees saying what he said when he said poured fuel on the fire Of a topic that he and his teammates had already agreed to disagree on. Brees could have and should have skirted arojnd the question. To bring that up again was tone deaf. Time and place, Drew. Come on buddy. People are going to disagree this is a bad time to bring it up.

Never show weakness to your assailant.

Brees should understand this completely. He's been studying opponent weaknesses as a way to win and gain advantage most of his life.

Not one iota of compassion for him for failing at reading the opponent.

And now you see what an apology got him. They want him to CRAWL.

The coyote packs are attempting to ruin him.

the brees situation shows me how racist most black athletes are.

what a bunch of self centered children. ed reed, michael thomas, all racist pieces of shite.

there's nothing special about race, definitely nothing special about the demons that the welfare state and celebrity worship have done to black "culture".

entertainment just isn't important. at the moment it seems it does more harm than good because of the false sense of accomplishment it seems to give most of these athletes.

all this talk of character and sports can be sickening. go work in a sawmill after school and during summers. rappel from helicopters while taking over ships in the straights of hormuz. help your brother when you see he needs it without posting it on twitter. stop front-running to make up for your insecurities.

these glorified stooges wouldn't know character if it smacked em upside the head, but these are the "leaders" of the black community and it shows.

get off the fricking plantation people. stop looking at entertainers as anything more than that. look to yourselves and find solutions to your problems.

I believe Brees fell victim to the left by taking their bait in the form of that interview. They knew his opinion on this matter before he even answered the question.

Many of them have had it in for Brees since the National Championship game.

His crime? Showing respect for our President.

Move over, scorned women; Hell hath no fury like a POS group of leftists with TDS.

Left freaks out over Brees / Trump handshake

And they demand that you are lock step with their every demand. Not one issue can you differ without being black balled.

I've seen a ton of messages on Facebook with people saying, "i ain't ever wearing my #9 jersey again. Y'all can come get 'em".

You know as soon as football season starts up again, they'll be back in the crowd cheering for the saints.

progressives

Here's what they really want.
They don't want anybody held responsible for any crime.
They do not want the average person to be able to defend oneself. They want criminals to have the upper hand.
They want pedophilia to be legal.
They want all organized religion abolished unless it's Islam.
They love abortion. Nothing makes a lib happier than seeing a baby ripped to shreds and removed from the mother.
And of course they hate freedom (unless its freedom to kill imperfect people, babies and to molest children) and patriotism.
These people can think whatever they hell they like but when they're in positions of power, that's when it gets dangerous.

I agree and I have refused to post a word one way or the other regarding the protest/police brutality issue on FB. I’ve made a comment or two on here but my feelings are irrelevant in the grand scheme of things so no point in bringing attention to myself whether good, bad, or indifferent because I feel like any opinion whatsoever can be used against you right now.

I’m glad I’m a nobody so I’m not forced into commenting at all.

I’ll sit this one out as much as possible. No win situation.

The objective is to silence alternative points of view. They use cancel culture, social media, and a complicit press to do what the constitution won’t allow.

Explain why he was tone deaf?

First off, he plays around a lot of black players. I don't recall any Saints players kneeling during the anthem, though I'm sure several Saints players agree with the intent of the kneeling. His comments yesterday show he hasn't listened to their concerns. He turned it into a military respect thing when the kneeling was NEVER about that. Being in a locker room, meeting room, training room, etc., with that many black players gave him ample opportunity to understand the issue better, and his answer showed him being unwilling to listen to those concerns and turn it into something it was not.

Your post was the equivalent of saying "yeah well sharks kill people, too" in the middle of a discussion about cancer.

That is why your idiocy is being ignored

These people are trying to force everyone into pigeon holes with social media.

Either confirm their position or you are the enemy. No one can be neutral.

Sports used to be an escape from issues. Now it is center stage for issues.

Shame

Man frick all of that. Seriously. frick that. I disagree whole heartedly with that approach. It's better to be true to yourself and authentic than some pussy dance around the subject kind of guy. You don't like what I have to say? Good for you. Not everybody is going to agree with everything. But in no shape or form did Brees say anything even remotely disrespectful about blacks. He made a statement that he doesn't disrespect the flag. And it's not even an opinion, it's a fact. He literally does not disrespect the flag. How can you even argue such a thing? That would be like saying you don't go to bed earlier than 10:00 PM, and me wanting to criticize your character because I can't understand why you would always stay up late. Meanwhile, you're answering a question with a fact about yourself. Same thing Drew did.

And the worst part about it, is Drew Brees represents everything that the NFL would look for in a player. He is the epitome of class, respect, leadership, and success. He is the absolute last person who deserves one ounce of the criticism. And the guy had to go and make a dumbass apology. Which, he did. He was a trooper about it. And I'm sure he was sincere. But I'm also pretty sure it got in his craw that he had to do that too.
