This country went to shite after 9/11

I’m younger (31) and 9/11 remains a huge part of my identity as 9 year old me told my Momma that same day I’d join the USMC and make sure it didn’t happen again. 18 year old me followed through on that.

All of that to say I have a different perspective than my generation. I’m ashamed of my generation, and I wish this country was able to be like it was on 9/12 forever instead of this shite

1950's in COLOR

Suppose you are referring to color of cars and clothes only and not people color.

Genesis for rest of the world (ie, non caucasion) must have been in 1960s.

I am caucasion btw. Just one who sees world and its inhabitants as 7 billion people strong, and not just those in my neighborhood and bingo nights.

Lots of people missing in your history book.

The existence of Jim Crow in the '50s invalidates your claim of it being the best of times to grow up in. The correct answer is the 1980s.

You can argue about which decade was the best to grow up in,
but at some point, these things either went away, or got much worse:
1. The End of Shame- I'm no prude, but sometime shame
motivates people to be better.
2. Distrust in government - they earned it.
3. Greed -in government, business and in people's hearts.
4. The End of The Golden Rule - why ever to anything to
someone if you would not want it done to yourself?
Most of these started to take root between 1975-1990.

I was born in the 60’s and was lucky to be brought up in a great Michigan city. No crime and is home of Dow Chemical. It was a classic American town of like 35,000. The 60’s and 70’s was great for a sports nut like myself. My favorite decade was the 80’s. I was in my 20’s throughout the decade and it was awesome. Sports, music, movies, Reagan, hot chicks everywhere.

I think women looked better in the 70s through the 90s on average. Way less of an obesity problem.

There are women regularly posted on here that are called "thicc" that would have just been fat 25+ years ago

I was thinking the best time to be a young adult would be in the 1970s. Finding a job would have been far easier - every area of work wouldnt be over saturated with talent.

Rent/mortgage prices would have been affordable.

Plus, most would be alive nowadays with access to excellent health care.
