That's what i figured would happen, and i was more than happy to move up to take a groomsman spot, but they asked me to step in for Best Man.
It got me out of having to carry and set up more than 300 chairs and all kinds of grunt work. They spent a shite ton on food,experience,etc. But they chumped out on the company who did the tent, tables and chairs. ushers were expected to help out.

Buddy of mine got all his groomsman a ice bucket with their favorite teams logo filled with a 6 pack of their favorite beer. By far the best gift ever. We spent our time before the wedding together killing our iced down six packs.

One of my buddies got us all switch blade bottle openers and giant flasks with engraved pictures of us drunk in college on them. I think it holds a handle, it's awesome. Another time we got really nice fillet knives with our initials on them. I used mine to jokingly cut my steak at the rehearsal dinner and when I went to clean it on my napkin it sliced through the napkin and continued on into my index finger
