Yeah, this is like bragging about Grenada.
My 2 deployments were OJC (Panama) and ODS; we did the same in both. I can say it is incredibly nice to have overwhelming force when invading a country. Both those operations were decisive and effective, just like they should be. As Mike Ehrmantraut said "no half measures".
When the US doesn't frick around we bring the pain.

this is like bragging about Grenada. We threw 3 aircraft carriers, 2 Amphibs, a division of Marines, the Rangers and the 82nd Airborne at a few Cuban infantrymen with a half dozen APC’s. Of Course you won.
That’s the idea, dippy, throw overwhelming forces at them. That’s how you do war.

I wouldn't rule out at all that they were just totally confused as buttfricked as to what was being asked of them and that there was bureaucracy and poor communication involved

who are often operating without FACs and CCTs,
I've been out for quite some time but can you younger guys clue me in on the difference between these two?
CCT's (Combat Controllers) were AF spec ops that were usually embedded with Green Berets, Rangers, etc and provided control of combat air support for those units, or basically Forward Air Control. (FAC)
What are the FAC's you guys are referring to?

I read Eric Haney's book. That was one of the first major operations for Delta and their helicopters got shredded going in.
Those few infantrymen had effective AA.

Please correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t FAC a qualification you can get, but CCTs are a dedicated MOS?
I seem to remember a podcast with a Marine aviator that did a tour as a FAC before returning to the cockpit.

But I do still think there is a distinct possibility that was intentional on the Russian government's part.
From my recollection there were two attempts over two days so they definitely knew who they were up against.

This thread made me realize why online competitive FPS (first person shooters) communities, which are chock full of current and former military, are wall to fricking wall acronyms and initialisms

but when you have a BUFF just doing what it feels like, wait, I think I'm getting a stiffy.
Any idea how low the B-52 was flying? Tactics have probably improved tremendously since my days as a navigator.
