Sen. Richard Burr, R-N.C., is facing calls to resign after reports Thursday that the powerful Intelligence Committee chairman had privately warned well-connected donors of the dire impacts of the coronavirus pandemic last month while selling off up to $1.6 million of his own stocks.... Burr — who co-wrote an op-ed for Fox News in early February saying 'the United States today is better prepared than ever before to face emerging public health threats, like the coronavirus' — unloaded the stock around mid-February, about a week before the market started to plunge because of coronavirus concerns."

Isn’t this called insider trading?

If you don't need it, you shouldn't bitch about it. I won't get it and I consider myself lucky to not need it. Some people will bitch about fricking anything. Think of the people who are hourly and don't have shite to fall back on. Anybody bitching about not getting a handout because they make too much money needs to do some self reflection.

Not bitching about not getting it. My gripe is giving it to the POS that contribute nothing.

Zero because there is no intention to ever pay this or any of our national debt back. That would require major cuts to budget items that would basically mean political suicide for any politician voting for it.

I'm fine not getting it. Giving out the money to fewer people means less debt for the country which is a good thing.

Better to keep paying lower wages and have one of these bailouts then pay large wages and drive up costs on all goods that I buy.

The checks go to people making less than $75k a year. Since I don't make that much, and I will get a check, I'm not part of the "backbone of America"? frick off.

I might be really late but the thing I read yesterday said this:

quote:

Cash payments

The bill includes cash payments of as much as $1,200 per person and $2,400 per married couple. Individuals with an adjusted gross income of less than $75,000, and $150,000 for joint filers, would receive the full payment. People earning over that amount would see their payments reduced by $5 for each $100 in income over that amount. The benefit completely phases out for individuals earning over $99,000 and married couples making more than $198,000.

People with incomes under $2,500 would be eligible for $600, or $1,200 for a married couple

So those without an income get half what those with one get.

Small businesses absolutely rely on the workers that were most impacted by this and small businesses are huge part of the backbone of America. Giving those workers enough to survive will allow the small businesses to recover much quicker.

To all you baws and bawettes who worked hard, got an education, kept a clean record, just remember you won’t be get any stimulus money! We will be paying for everyone else’s though! Turns my fricking stomach! Cheers to the ones out there really carrying the load

Most of the working class that are the backbone of this country make less than the dividing line amount to qualify for the stimulus.

don’t need a stimulus. I just don’t want to pay for yours

This.

Instead of giving everyone making under $75K a year a check, how bout suspending income tax or cutting it down.

I know a bunch of people will freak out and say “what about the people on gubment assistances?”

Just add an extra $100 to the food stamp card or whatever the frick it’s called.

Hey I been poor and now I am lucky to have a retirement, own a business, and I sold other businesses. Having investments is nice. Extremely lucky to have my service departments backed up and I can keep my employees.

If someone truly needs the money I have no problems helping then out. This money is going back into the economy very quickly.
