I'm salaried and they still make me punch in/out and take a lunch. Isn't the point of salaried to make the same amount every day?

I work 4-10s. It’s fantastic. Honestly I get more done working this schedule than I ever did on 5-8s. I’m usually at my office between 5:30-5:45, leave at 5:00. Don’t mind the hours because i get Friday off.

I get yelled at if I take a 15 minute lunch. My boss said the state requires you to take a full lunch. Why?

I'm betting you live in a right to work state.

Federal law requires specific breaks for hourly workers. I think you probably are think closed shop states. Right to work states prohibit forced union membership.

I have to catch the 6am flight to Atlanta to be on the job around 8:30. If we get done that day, I catch the 3pm or 9:30pm flight back. Otherwise I stay over until the job is finished. I get paid a flat fee for each job, no matter how long it takes.

i get the most work done when i have 3 work periods and 2, 2-hour decompression periods

so basically, work 8-1030. lunch 11-1. then work 1-4. dinner 4-6. work 6-8. something along those lines

I wish I could work 6-2:30 on a regular basis. I find I’m much more productive when I get to work that early. I’m usually one of just a few people there. Don’t get any calls yet...so have a few hours to get work done. Also....it’s so quiet and peaceful. Plus....leaving at 2:30 pm feels amazing

This is my exact schedule, and my boss loves that I chose to work it. He is an 8-5 guy, but I’m the chief, cook, and bottle washer in the lab, so he likes getting results early in the morning.

I'm on the 4-10 model. Usually we don't ever work the full 10 hours, yet we still get clocked for it.

I really would like to go to a 3 day work schedule. I've seen other jobs make it where you work 12 hours (plus maybe lunch time) for only 3 days then get 4 days off. That is only 36 hours and I think they still get paid for 40.

But really the 40 hour work week is bullish but we gotta keep those CEOs fat and happy.

It should be as long as the work gets done, what does it matter what time you come in?

This is what I do. I get a lot done from my sofa at night anyway. I'm most productive at night.

I start my day at 7:30 so I can “skip lunch” which usually means bring my own and eat it during a brief break and get off at 3:30 with 8 hours. Often I get busy and leave at 4:30-5 with an extra few hours OT on my weekly check. Screw the system.

I prefer to work at an office. It gives me the separation between work and home that I need.

I’ve never understood this.. i mean, i work from home so i pretty much make my own hours.. but when i worked in an office environment and some people worked 4-10s, they always elected to take Fridays off.. why on Earth would you choose Fridays off, when you could choose Mondays off instead? Mondays IMO are the worst things ever created.. Working Fridays to me are a breeze, everyone’s in a good mood looking forward to the weekend.. Mondays almost always suck, plus if you work in an office environment and have Mondays off, you’d never have that dreadful feeling on Sunday night of ‘Ugh, i have to go back to work tomorrow morning...’

To me it’s a no-brainer, but i’m obviously in the minority.
