They showed a pic of the camera and it was about 6' up on a light pole

if it's a Weather Channel camera it's probably mounted in a bath tub on a studio set

I'm wondering if the PD they are sheltering in is high enough to keep from flooding. They are gonna drown in that building.

That’s pretty selfish. Somebody is going to have to risk their life going in there to save them when the shite hits the fan

At some point we have to just say that if you stay in a place like Grand Isle during this type of storm, you are on your own and resources will not be spent bailing you out of a really bad choice.

Well, here is Grand Isle right now...

Bandwidth issues, but still scary as hell.

Incredible. I hope the sheriff and the people holed up with him make it out of that. Absolutely devastating.

You do realize that this has been the understanding for many years in Grand Isle?

Allegedly the building was built to withstand 200 mph winds and 15 foot surge

Some billionaire should create survival pods with live video and audio for people to pay for the opportunity to ride one of these big storms out. Gotta be a better PPV event than a Jake Paul bout.

The two dudes that built the place in Mexico Beach that survived Michael should definitely do it

Most of MB was really old construction. All new stuff going on coasts is much more structurally sound.

The 8 feet of water protected the structures from the wind?

All the camps built since Katrina are built to the hurricane codes. Not that that alone will keep them from being blown away but it will help.

Wooden structures and elevated trailers are built within the driven piles, not on top.

Sorry I just can’t feel sorry for those people. It takes a special kind of stupid or stubbornness or both to sit on tiny spec of land jetting out into the gulf while a CAT 4 hits it. They need to be eliminated from the gene pool to make the world smarter.
