The situation in Nola this morning had a very surreal Audrey vibe (with people waking up to a monster approaching much more quickly when they thought they still had time).

How the hell do you know what the 'Audrey vibe' was like in NOLA?

No I'm saying the same vibe of going to sleep thinking you still had time/it wasn't going to be as severe (unless you were on here at like 1am, all the reports yesterday were that it wasn't nearly as strong as it had been predicted and may not even be a 4) and then waking up to a monster that is approaching faster than anticipated.

*ETA: the "Audry vibe" is one of being stuck

I grew up with this. Never knew people in SELA were ignorant to this.

texting back and forth with a friend in Mandeville right now, his biggest concern is that a lot of the carnage is projected to occur there after dark, adding to the confusion, I don't think there'll be a lot of options at that point anyway, should have left, imo

Like I posted in the main thread about this topic. There is no logical or emotional reason to stay. Even the "I need to protect my stuff from looters" insanity doesn't make any sense. What are the looters going to do, steal boats to make it down there?

Then you've never been to Dulac or hung out with Tommy Vidrine.

none what so ever, that's what insurance is for, I lived in FL for a couple of decades and it took exactly one hurricane to come over my house to learn that the best course of action is to leave, make a vacation out of it and don't come back until everything is up and running

That’s pretty selfish. Somebody is going to have to risk their life going in there to save them when the shite hits the fan.

you must have never been through a hurricane before, no one, nobody, will go save anyone until after the storm has passed and its then and only then that they will look for survivors.

this aint no frickin movie on TV, they dont go out in storms to save people, they only check for survivors and then rescue any found after the fact

everyone knows this, there is still great risk in entering an area after storm has passed through a devastated area

Yeah they tell them in no uncertain terms that they're on their own, for perhaps even up to a few days post-storm. Probably make them sign something as well.

The GI mayor was just interviewed and said one of his guys is reporting water level of 8ft. The guy is in his house which is 12 feet up. Said the worst is yet to come.
