How can structures/homes withstand the weight of that much snow?

They don't. This type and amount of heavy, wet snow (average SLR of 5:1-9:1) often leads to roof collapse when not cleared.

Colorado (Winter Park A Basin Breck), Banff, Snowbird, Mammoth are all known for great spring skiing in April.

Kirkwood is awesome and usually not as busy as the other Tahoe resorts.

Yeah, the biggest concern for drought and fire season should be to the east this year. Colorado and the upper plains are hoping for late season snow because the snowpack there is incredibly low. Down into OK and TX should be active, too.

On a side note, today is a very dangerous day out in parts of NE, CO, KS, OK, and TX. They're dealing with Extremely Critical fire weather with winds gusting over 70 and relative humidity in the teens.

Fires are starting to go up in TX, CO, and OK.

Two in the OK panhandle showing up on radar:

One just south of Limon, CO is also showing up on radar.

This would be my type of vehicle. Modern challenges call for complex solutions.

The fire near Beaver, OK is going to explode. Winds steady in the 40s, gusts well over 50. Fortunately, it is just NE of town, and the wind is blowing away from town.

The other fire, to the west of Beaver may threaten Liberal, KS.

To show how impactful the wind is right now, the Beaver fire is now a mile wide, but has advanced over 30 miles to the NE since it started.

The very small town of Englewood, KS may have gotten rolled by the fire. Ashland, KS is the next town in line, downwind of the fire. It is being prepped for evacuation, but the order hasn't been issued yet.

Another has gone up NE of Garden City, KS. It looks to be isolated in a sparsely populated area right now.
