My property taxes is 5k for 2 houses. One in WA state and one in FL.

If you drive a car, I'll tax the street
If you try to sit, I'll tax your seat
If you get too cold I'll tax the heat
If you take a walk, I'll tax your feet

People say when you pay off your house, go walk in the backyard and the grass feels different. It doesn't. You always have keep paying.
I beg to differ. You have police and fire protection at the paid off property?

Should that be free or elective to anyone who owns property free and clear?

Public skules & libraries?

Stop Libertarianisming us here brah.

I got the mortgage notification last week just like every year. yeah looks like your gonna be short this year with your escrow. We gonna need an extra 500 to cover your shortage . That extra 500 @ year adds up after 10 years of living in same house. To think what i paid when i moved into my house 10 year ago to now. But hey my house is worth more now according to the county Fricking blank check for city to rob you blind.

Wasn’t he already taxed to receive his money, and again to spend his money? He needs to be taxed to continue to own what he has already paid for too?

After your 65 or 70 yrs old, people should be exempt from property taxes.

I guess Alabama isn't too bad. 1500 bucks for me on two different properties, one of them my primary "homestead" so it's lower than it otherwise would be.

Over 65 you don't pay "state" property taxes but you still have to pay whatever your county levies.

Hate to burst all of your bubbles but Florida wins again. Just paid 3.4K for 3000 sq ft home on an acre of property in Florida Panhandle, north part of town. Assessed value 300K by county.

You should see the county and school taxes on a oil well or two. The high school buildings in South Texas would blow some folks minds, got to spend those Eagle Ford funds.

Can’t complain too much. Lafayette, LA, 2,300 sq. ft house worth about $250,000, my city and parish taxes are a little over $1,400 this year.

And I still complain.
