I just looked mine up (multiple bills). I got one covered with escrow, but I have to pony up around 4500 for the other 2. All the years paying and got nothing in return from the local government.

One house is paid off. People say when you pay off your house, go walk in the backyard and the grass feels different. It doesn't. You always have keep paying.

You may pay off the structure but no one ever truly owns land in this country it’s depressing

What's worse than the tax is all the people who don't own property voting to tax those who do.

If they were smart enough to realize they’ll pay it through rent, they wouldn’t.

Ah yes, when the govt taxes you again for something you already paid taxes on. It's magical.

Lulz. Yeah, because it’s just your house. No roads to if, no power, fiber, sewer water.

Your life would be awesome if the government let you keep your few thousand dollars so you could get the leather package on your F250.

Us Texans brag all year until this shite comes around

I actually pay mine in my escrow monthly but it's close to 9K a year and our house isn't that big

Only time to be glad you don’t live in Texas. At least the majority of ours stays in the community.

I dislike that in Louisiana you get the bills around Thanksgiving and they are due by Dec. 31, right when families are often strapped due to holiday expenses.

The state and cities could change the laws to make it due any time they wanted, and even allow installments, but we just stay stuck on this. In Arkansas, my relatives paid monthly Jan thru April or so until paid up for the year. That seemed like a better option.

Property taxes are just land communism where the haves pay and the have nots, reap the benefits.

That said, my relatives in Houston pay more in property taxes on their house than I pay in mortgage and escrow. Suckers.

I forget about it every year then the bills come and I get pissed off because I am buying christmas presents. I would rather pay that crap in April like regular taxes.

If property tax was itemized every time folks paid rent I wonder if it would make a difference in renters' attitude toward it?

Sigh... of course sales tax increases keep passing so maybe not.

Tell me you are a renter without telling me you are a renter.

If my taxes pays for this every month, why in the hell am I getting separate bills I get every month from Cox, Slemco, Pelican Waste, Town Water?

Roads to my house??? Come drive down LA 347 everyday to get home and go to work.
