And, as a complete shock to investors, Biogen shares were up 43%.

I read an article about this earlier today. I'm a little confused as to how the data was re-interpeted. However, if this isn't bullshite, it will change a lot of lives for the better.

You got lucky. Good for you. I honestly hope it stays that way for your grandma. But not everyone is “pleasantly confused”. Seen people crying in their own shite, writing in their own shite, and chewing their own shite covered nails. Saw an old lady with a broken humerus. Broken in half. If you left her in a sling it was a legit choking hazard. She pulled off every splint. I can still hear those bone ends crackle against each other as she’d try to use that arm to pull at the side rails of her bed. She’d make a little wince and go “ewww” evertytime they’d crunch. She was to gone to register real pain or scream.

Not all are alike.

Sounds like a biologic med for psoriasis or RA that showed some promise elsewhere. Whether marginal or not.

Any pharmacists or MDs on here let me know if I’m wrong. It’s been known to happen.

It's part of the emerging Mab family of crap for over-privileged old women.

I just lost my Father from this horrible disease.

Anything that helps to delay the progression of this disease is a very good thing.

Alzheimers patients suffer like crazy. They have no idea wtf is going on and are constantly on edge and terrified. If I ever get it I'm sailing my boat into a hurricane to save me and my family the pain of it.

Not all. I work as a consultant in a nursing home and some are so happy it’s ridiculous. They forget everything but they’re happy and pleasant.

Now there are those who are miserable, ugly, pissy people but it’s just part of it for some.

We love them regardless.

the drug name xxxMAB is standard nomenclature for a monoclonal antibody. Most monoclonal antibodies on the market right now are for autoimmune diseases (like RA)

I don’t know about that. Does the person with dementia even know?

frick yes they know, with early onset.

Early on yes, but way later, no.

ETA: Sorry, man. Didn't mean to sound like a dick, I hate Alzheimer's.

This pisses me off. This was true 20 years ago, and it is still true today:

Current drugs only temporarily ease symptoms and do not slow the loss of memory and thinking skills.

There is only one thing that is worse then Alzheimer and that is LAS. As of today, my 4th cousin came down with this. His brother died not two years ago from it. Two other cousins, brother and sister both died from it. All were 60 and way younger.
