how do you have time to wear everything to the point they are wearing out?
Not really worn out but not as pristine as the rest. Mars was the first one we got so it saw a lot of duty in the evenings an weekends until be broke down and started a "collection" of them. It and the 2 my wife wears almost exclusively (Venus/pink and Uranus/baby blue) have significantly more wear then the rest. We have spent too much money on them but they are a sweet gift for each other when we pick one up out of town. I guess we are lucky to not have a Swatch store in town since we would almost certainly have all 27 (I think) that have been released. It is definitely a cash cow for the Swatch group.

my gosh. is it that many now?
i gave the 'sun' to my teenage daughter and she gets compliments on it every time she wears it to school. looks GIANT on her; looks like a toothpick on me.
i made her sit down with me and learn how to use the chrono and explain how a tachymeter works before i let her have it.

i told her it would be embarrasing if someone asked her about it and she didn't even know how to use the stopwatch.
plus there's not a single guy at her school that has a clue about what a tachymeter is

eta for those who don't know what the sun swatch looks like

Does it have a ghost position for the date?
Not one that is obviously visible, but I am certain the movement has a date function as the Diver 1A typically does have a date window. I’m drawn to no dates, just looks so much cleaner.

I am one of the few watch nerds that admits I like the MoonSwatch
I’ve thought about picking up one of the black ones to somewhat scratch my FF itch, but haven’t pulled the trigger yet.

Marketing softening a bit? Was offered a bunch of rolexes and one patek from the ADs last week in italy.

Pic is from the other day, that's why the date is wrong.
Six weeks on the wrist and it's still keeping the exact time to the second.
Neat little feature, the date magnifier is on the inside of the crystal, which is 4mm thick. This thing is insanely overengineered.

I have the Antarctic and Arctic Ocean versions. They are both no date and while I simply like the dials more they work better as a grab (quick set) and go watch which all of the Swatches function as because I almost never wear them for an entire day. I have a metal case for the Antarctic on my beach and AFAIK I will be the first to recase one in metal if I get myself in gear, I already alerted the mod community to the case but many are saying it can't be done...
I like them, another fun watch with a similar overvalued price. The one thing I think was a massive fail was using a Nato strap when the movement and rotor are as interesting as the front. They have 8 of them now, Blue Lagoon and Pink Ocean after the Sea of Storms. I think my wife wants the pink one and I may pick up the blue one which I like better than the Atlantic Ocean. I am trying to not become a completist with either set, it was almost a relief when we missed the first MoonSwatch limited drop so it became a non-issue because I am not paying over list for one. The Sea of Storms is interesting given it is named for a "sea" on the moon and even more oddly they put a nudibranch on it as well. Maybe Swatch Group knows something we don't about the moon. They do have a FF vibe and I enjoy them, despite complaining about the Nato earlier as a design choice the strap has a really nice feel to it and they wear better than the MoonSwatch on the OG strap though I have found they wear more comfortably when switch around so the Omega side is at 12 o'clock.

Yes, no, and maybe. Many European cities had better availability than the US during the COVID/free money/gray market frenzy. I think the biggest factor is a lot of the wanna-be gray market dealers that jumped in at or near the height are off licking their wounds. We have had success picking up some former and arguably still hype pieces recently while I am not surprised given my long standing relationship with my dealer but I did pick up one piece from the AP House in NYC which I never thought was even a possibility. I simply showed interest in a piece because the SA spent a lot of quality time with me at my appointment then 9 months later I got the call out of the blue.
I am curious what Patek they had available.

Not sure if it's been discussed already, but you see the new steel 222 that Vacheron came out with? At $32,000 MSRP it definitely ain't made for me, but damn it looks nice

tachymeter
The cool thing about a tachy scale is it can be used to determine how many of anything per hour. For example, you could time the delta between two widgets coming off an assembly line and directly read how many per hour will be produced. I usually peak ahead when I put on my Friday watch to see what is coming up next week, if I counted to seven correctly it will be a watch with an interesting and unexpected tachymetre scale. As an aside talking about tachymeters always makes me hungry since it is from the Greek word for speed: tachos.

How many here were part of Timezone or Equation of time?
Posted on 2/14/25 at 3:56 pm to MizunoDude
Timezone here, did a lot of trading on Sales Corner when you could get great stuff and not have to worry about getting scammed. That community was wonderfully self-policed. Swapped many a piece including at least one holy trinity piece and multiple sports model Rolexes. Those were the good old days. Shoulda picked up a Royal Oak back in those days, but at that time didn't really care for them. I did a lot of Panerai buying/selling/trading in those days and don't even have a single one anymore.

Which watch did you snag?
They had this one. With the 12% back on sales tax I almost pulled the trigger. But already have a calatrava

Blushes a bit, watches, I went a little nuts.
I got a 15510 in green from the AP House and from my local dealer I got a Ghost, Pepsi, 336934, and a 5726.
I'm not surprised it was a 6007G available, they have become the "build your spend" piece for Patek. I can't decide if I like that watch or not, that said if if they made those in SS (like the first 6007) I would buy any that were offered because I will buy anything steel from Patek I can get new because Thierry is really clamping down on steel pieces and I think when the current steel Nautiluses are set for a reboot they are gone forever. They just discontinued the 5712 (a watch I do not love but I am desperately trying to get one of the last ones in the pipeline) leaving only the 5726 and the 5990 left in steel. The appetite for stainless Pateks is ravenous and it isn't anything new. I see the Cubitus as the main if not only steel left coming out of Patek after the next few years.

Been traveling this week so on the BBPro.
My plan for a 2 watch (and a gshock) collection between this and the FXD really has panned out.

Which one? I've considered a 3919 or a 5119 for a dress watch but I always seem to get derailed by road bikes, and carbon plated shoes, and race entry fees (oh my!)
Posted on 2/21/25 at 10:07 am to Ingeniero

A Santos is being highly considered for my next add, and I’m test driving a friends today. I’ve been thinking about it a lot as a GADA than can be dressy or sporty, and as something different from my other pieces.
So far it’s lived up to expectations and feels like it disappears on the wrist. The quick change system is very cool, but no simpler than the generic “slide bolt” style quick change pins on many straps. However, the SmartLinks are really freaking cool and uncomplicated. I was able to adjust the bracelet to perfectly fit my wrist in no time, with no effort, tools, or fear of losing a micro screw or pin. I’m surprised more watchmakers haven’t tried to implement something as simple and intuitive.
This is a medium model and I’m not sure whether I would like this or the large. On one hand, this size feels great and a I feel Cartier should be small and dressy. However, I’m used to the presence of 39-42mm sport watches and this is noticeably smaller than I was expecting (the straight on wrist shot above definitely skews the scale up).
Will need to test out a large before making any decision.
