Cool watch my friend has. Swapped to oyster. Bezel is unreal to me for a Rolex. He explained by saying it was a machined bezel…or something, said it was the cheapest Rolex ever. With an oyster it looks cool.

That's an engine turned bezel and it looks to be a 15210 judging from "swiss made" at 6 o'clock on the dial and what looks like luminova markers to me. Slightly smaller cousin to the DateJust at 34 mm case diameter and no option for fluted WG bezel (bezel is either going to be smooth or engine turned SS). They are definitely on the lower end of the price spectrum on vintage and neo-vintage. Discontinued a few years ago. There are a ton of them to be had and mostly you'll see them in sliver, black or blue dials.

Happy Labor Day Weekend - It's finally game weekend, can't wait for Sunday night at 6:30.

I refuse to let this thread die, so today its the Root Beer in its current (and I think best) iteration, the 126711CHNR. Got this at the AD in my city in January of 2024, told them I was interested in September of 2023, and they came through for me.

Cheers!

Stuck on the FXD for now. Erika's in Mirage with black hardware should be here tomorrow.

I would love to see Tudor make a version of the FXD that was 39 mm. That is the perfect pair with that watch and the Erika's Original MN straps. The quality on those straps makes them worth the price if you ask me.

A little German for the day

The grey version of the Glashutte Original 60's Iconic Collection, it is a homage to the Spezimatic from the mid-60s. Lacquer curved de'grade' dial with a guilloché stamp texture. I wish I could capture the texture with my crappy phone. I currently have it on a mesh band which I can't decide if I love are hate, it is comfy though.

numeral font and the handset on that watch is so darn good. I've come close to getting one in one version or another over time, but pulled the trigger.

I love the 42 on this with how the lugs curve down, especially at only 12.5 thick.

Agreed on the Erika's. I tried The Watch Steward TDM and it's ok. A little more stretchy than I like, but more so I don't care for the double and even a piece that is triple overlapping of the strap. It makes it seem bulky, and while there is nothing passing behind the case back, thats something I'm willing to sacrifice for a thinner overall strap like Erika's.

1975 Bulova Golden Clipper. It was a retirement gift given to my grandfather.

36mm 16013 Datejust that was my grandfathers. Handled a couple decades of daily old dude yardwork and still runs great.

I was going to bump the thread but someone posted, however I figure I will include what was interesting me.

A Moser and Studio Underd0g (the latter made their mark with the watermelon watch) are doing a passion fruit collab. I love them but $65k for a pair of whimsical colorway watches is beyond my economic tolerance for fun but would love to have them. Maybe one of the LSU baws will step up.

The hoops people jump through for a Daytona are crazy to me.

A moonwatch is every bit as good of a chronograph IMO, with arguably more heritage and historical significance, for around half the cost and very attainable.

Sure, resale wouldn’t be the same, but if it’s a piece you plan to keep forever then it seems like a no brainer to avoid the hassle.

Yeah, I don't get it. You can buy a moonwatch or even buy a rep of the rolex. They even mod them with real parts and crystals.

I think people get fed up with the bullshite and buy a rep. That way you don't have to worry about it either. People double up with an authentic and rep of the same watch.

saw it earlier today and had the immediate thought that it reminded me of the purple color-changing helmet color scheme we used in one game back in 2018, lol. Two of my obsessions crashing headlong. I chuckled at the 65K and thought a bit about what watch I would actually spend that on .

Been wearing a deep blue master 1000 lately. I would like it far more if it were smaller. They'd have a home run if they made them in less than gargantuan sizes.

44x51x15mm thick is a chunky boy for sure. That's like a Sinn U1. The U1 on bracelet is like 225 grams, which is wild.

I think I paid $110 for it. Fun to wear every now and then. I wish they made a lizzy sized one that wasn't a lizzy.

I love a classic Rolex like that.

Understated, elegant and should outlive your children if you keep it maintained.

My son services mechanical time locks on bank vaults and many of these vaults are 100 years old and he pulls them out and swaps any worn springs, etc and cleans the dirt and dust and they're good as new.

my parents knew I was a watch geek even back in the 80s and bought me gold and silver Seiko for graduation.

At the time I was all in on casios, swatches and even the TV watch made by Sony I think.

Agree with this sentiment. My AD is still playing games with me even after a good purchase history. You can get a both a new Sapphire Sandwich Speedy and a Zenith Chronomaster Sport for the price of steel Daytona from an AD. I’ve already picked up the Speedy, will probably pull the trigger on the Zenith soon.

Regarding the JLC, while I like the Reverso, their price increases over the last few years have been ridiculous.
