I usually don't agree with most of TH03's posts however I have to agree with Dodie's food being garbage. Their drinks suck, too. frick that place. There are many other Cajun food options in the DFW area.

Yep. I went a couple times and it was like cowboy fan trash everywhere. The one in Frisco was very much a home away from home for LSU and saints fans and the clientele was much better.

We used to go to aw shucks off Preston in Frisco for my fried shrimp and oyster cravings. Decent enough raw oysters too. Half shells has a location at the shops at legacy, but the Snider plaza one was much better. I thought the one at the shops sucked.

The original isn't even Dodie's anymore

Because the company using the Dodie's name made the original Dodie's change to "Charlie's Kitchen" named after Charlie McGuinness, the founder of Dodies....he still sits at the bar at the original Dodie's sometimes.

The original lost their own name?

I was hoping it was the same. Their food was the best of the 3 I've been to. Haven't been to the 2 story one.

Frisco is called the green gator now but it's exactly the same as before.

Don't ever go to the one in Coppell...ever. And it's quite a shame. We would have spent thousands of dollars per year in there had we had good experiences. Great location, great venue....go in, order and the place goes down hill with a quickness. I'm not sure anyone working there has ever eaten real Louisiana food. Nothing they're serving taste remotely correct.

On Greenville? Thats the one the original owners (McGuinesses) went into a partnership to open.....its more of a sports bar . The partnership went bad and the McGuinesses bugged out and open a competing sports bar concept which violated the partnership agreement....Law suit, Dodie's name given to partners. The McGuinesses were dumbasses in the way they dealt with the issues.

Has anyone in ATX seen that dude's house near Travis Heights where he puts murals of himself doing triathlons?

I will say this. I refuse to eat "cajun food" anywhere outside of South Louisiana so I will take back what I said earlier about visiting this place.

So why do I refuse to eat "cajun food" outside of South Louisiana? In my experience, the two different times I have eaten it outside of SL, I came to realize that a lot of people think cajun means spicy, however; I like well seasoned food, which you get with real cajun food.

We all like different things, but I don't understand the love for food that is really spicy. I don't want to eat my food that will clear my sinuses and have sweat dripping down my face and I have to hurry up and take a sip of my drink after every bite.

What was the place that had the opposite signs?

On the Womens door was:

and on the Mens door was:

frick... I can see it... just on the tip of my tongue.

Is it a Mexican place? For some reason I'm thinking that the signs have images of a guy wearing a sombrero and a Hispanic looking woman.

ETA- Looks like I was thinking of this:

And you were probably thinking of this:
