I suggest the push of state legislation to require any public or charter schools i the state of texas mandate all teachers provide to the parents weekly distributions of the material to be taught in the class/school to their children. Refusal to provide the material or utilizing materials not disclosed to the parents would result in reprimand or termination for the educator.

If you want to push your blatant propaganda to my kids with my tax dollars, then I have the right to know exactly what is being taught and what days I will be keeping my child home. Once it starts affecting their budgets since texas pays schools based on student attendance, you will start seeing a change.

Any thoughts on such an idea? Same thing for Louisiana perhaps (although Edwards would surely veto such a bill).

That's not unreasonable. No way it will happen, but it is not unreasonable.

Pay attention to your kids homework, read the syllabus, and keep up with any newsletters.

Not really a solution to anything imo. If somebody wants to push their beliefs on students they can do it without putting it on the curriculum

c on z will likely call me a snowflake for this

BUT. it’s my opinion that Teachers are
government employees. Their job nor does the public school exist without my tax dollars. Thus i don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect a camera in every single classroom for parents to access live or via recordings. There should be 100% transparency in what is being taught to our children. Do the majority of daycares not have webcams available for parents these days? they do.

What exactly are you opposed to being taught...critical race theory, evolution, safe sex practices?

The Texas ISD model is great. It is all about local control. Seems like the ISD is the one that should set up policy. Work it at that level

or you could just push for school choice, where the funds assigned to your kid follow you kid no matter where YOU choose to send them.

solves all those problems.

Has there been an issue in your school? There have been very few reports of these kind of issues across Texas, even in the more liberal cities.

Texas ISD model is as good as it gets for parents having local control. Speak directly to the principal and/or Superintendent’s office with your concerns and proof.

Every class syllabus is available online for us along with supporting materials for each class. Do you talk to your kids about what they learned that day? Review materials?

Problem perceived by OP- public education needs fixing.

Solution from OP- MOaR LaWZ!

I thought the general consensus on the OT was that a conservative, libertarian approach to government jurisdiction is the best way forward. How does the OP & supporters plan for the state government to enforce such law?

This already exists in Louisiana. Parents have full access to the curriculum. It’s all online

Most states have their curriculum and standards publicly posted on their state’s department of education website.

I can’t speak for all schools in my district but our teachers are required to provide a syllabus at the beginning of the course as well. It was like that at both schools I worked at.

I’m a little more concerned that so many are not involved enough in their kid’s education to know what’s being taught.

Our district proposed this a few years back and it was fought by a section of parents that was concerned about their children being videotaped. Then parents protested the cost.

Honestly. Most of the good teachers I know would LOVE a camera in a classroom so people could see what they’re really dealing with.

i can see it from all angles honestly.

i can see not wanting an increase in taxes to pay for it.
i can see wanting to ensure my kids education isn't steeped in slanted political propaganda.
i can see not wanting my children video taped as well.

lol. pretty sure my wife would agree with that. half of the phone calls home become fruitless because parents will defend their bratty children no matter the case.
