Then your post, and whatever point you were tying to make, had nothing to do with mine.

Feel free to go back and reread it to familiarize yourself since you obviously didn’t understand it the first time.

I got your point. If it wasn't clear I was calling your point stupid.

The kids in the Auburn example I brought up grew up in the 90's as well. What excuse do you have for them?

You obviously missed on both marks since your response had nothing to do with my post — the concept of which is very clear and yet you somehow managed to get it wrong.

I’ll leave you to your own comprehension shortcomings.

I can see what you mean. And yes, I agree there were lots of people who thought that MLK's civil rights advocacy was "upsetting the natural order" between the races.

However, it is asinine - and frankly downright dangerous - to compare MLK's organized civil rights demonstrations to the clusterfrick that we're seeing today.

The SCLC trained their members in non-violent civil disobedience. The key phrase there being "non-violent." They disavowed the Black Power and militant black separatist movements. In fact, MLK didn't even like the use of the "Black Power" motto. He believed it was a cry of weakness and not strength.

MLK's vision worked. It was powerful. The world leaned forward and took notice of young black men and women being hosed and beaten without fighting back. That was true courage and resolve.

This shite today? Fires, looting, and throwing bricks at police officers? GTFO with comparing that to MLKs civil rights movement. That's not courage. That's opportunism and inciting violence. When you incite violence, expect violence in return. MLK understood that. And that's exactly what we're seeing today, and why race relations have plummeted.

You can also go ahead and GTFO with the "police are hunting down blacks in the streets" thereby making it white police officers who are "inciting violence."

We all know that's bullshite, and we have government statistics to prove it. And even if that argument had any validity, it actually reinforces why MLK's vision was so powerful. Even when police in the 60s were indiscriminately and unjustly beating black demonstrators and throwing demonstrators in jail by the hundreds, the demonstrators remained peaceful. That kind of courage makes onlookers say "damn, maybe the status quo is pretty fricked up."

I have literally never heard of ding dong ditch referred to as this. It doesn't even make any sense.

I grew up in New Hampshire, and when I moved down to LA around ~2000 that's what all the kids called it. I'm not saying it's right, and I certainly pushed back (even as an eleven year old), but it was pretty commonly referred to that.

Well yeah, he was an iconic figure that had become the face of civil rights. And he was intentionally assassinated in a politically motivated killing. Those riots actually kind of made sense, although MLK would've denounced them if he could've.

Can you show me when this has happened? You can't, because it would never be news.

I agree media wouldn’t cover it. Btw I disagree with people like Spleen and C on Z. Doesn’t mean I can’t criticize the opposite too

Racism existed before that too. Point is some people on here have made tons of excuses but do the opposite whenever black people come up
