when it is, she's history, they probably feed the hell out of it before they let her around it

Me and that big fella are having similar thoughts.

They'd have to feed it a xanex the size of a watermelon before I would stand there in front of it.

there are two crocs in a lagoon in Ambergris Cay Belize that will let people do that, I have some pics with the old lady doing that, had some very conflicting thoughts going through my tete at the time

idk why some people insist on fricking around with these dinosaurs. Dumb as hell.

one-of-a-kind bond with a nearly 14-foot long and 1,000-pound alligator
That’s the kind of dumbass thinking that gets people killed. It’s a prehistoric creature with millions of years of survival instinct ingrained in it, there’s no bond.

You know, I've jumped on a smaller gator as a dumb kid... And thought nothing of it.
But just seeing that big bastard makes my heart rate jump

Serious question: How old do you think that gator is? Pretty damn old (many years). This stupid b*tch thinks she has formed a bond with it over a summer (couple of months)? That's only a speck of time. She needs to consider herself lucky she's alive.

I get that they have used effective positive food reward conditioning here, but the talk about bonding and love makes me think she's not a very bright zoologist. One fluke move and she is over.
What if a snapping turtle bit his tail right as her face is in his? What if it got confused and failed to recognize her? Just so many little imperceptible things that could go wrong, leading to horrific death.
I have a much easier time understanding relationships with dangerous mammals like bears or big cats than this.

Absolutely no attachment is felt by that gator for humans. It sees them as a mechanism to get fed. The minute it isn't fed enough, it will eat the human.
That is a fricking dinosaur. So fricking stupid to take her eyes off of it while standing a foot away from it's mouth.
Its one thing to be 10 feet away and paying close attention, its another to be inches from it's open mouth and looking at the camera.
ETA:
And I'm not scared of gators really. We used to sneak up and slap their tails on golf courses to scare them back into the water. But we'd come up from behind and run the frick away after. This girl is in the water facing a giant.

Most mammals have emotions and can show very real attachments to other living things from different species. Lots of examples of this in big cats especially.
Alligators absolutely do not. They are soulless dinosaurs motivated by thousands of years of instincts. That's it. They're killing robots.

that gator is so big and so old it can probably barely move.

doubt it, it could be blind though, the gators in that place are probably "rescue" gators that they think probably couldn't make it on the outside anymore

It could still grab her leg in microsecond without moving more than a foot and retreat back into the water.

They’re just big scaley puppies/cold-blooded killing machines/delicious food and fashion accessories

When the gator is in a bad mood she will be toast.

mood doesn't have anything to do with it, unless that mood is hunger
