Old money, $30K millionaires, and dirt poor shitholes. Stay away unless you absolutely have to go. Fort Worth is much better.

No, you just sound like a naive poor kid.

DFW is so big you have to specify which area, because they all vary.

If it’s Dallas City proper, then it’s money, traffic, and bums south of I-30.

Why did Dallas grow so much?

FW was on the cattle trail from SA to the railroads in MO/KS, so there was a reason for its existence. But why did Dallas overtake it?

This place sucks. There are way better Mexican restaurants unless you're out in Suburban hell

IMO Dallas metro is the epitome of American suburbia. Lots of everything. The amount of chains (small and national) and the amount of retail is staggering compared to most cities. It's not remarkable in quality, there is just so much of it.

I like Dallas, I think it's a pretty pleasant place. And certainly it's not all suburbia - but I think that "big and suburban" element dominates a lot of the culture both in the city and obviously out. It's vain and often non-substantive, but it's not particularly annoying about it.

In my opinion Dallas is the easiest city to slot into a nice lifestyle for an upper middle class family (of the cities in TX).

The correct term is “$100K millionaires.” It’s 2023 not 2003.

Dallas’ image is about shiny new things, new money. Big cars and big everything. The Cowboys and Jerryworld.

Reality is that Dallas proper is a lot more laid back, patio day drinking (when it’s not 110). The largest lake in the country all within a city limits. Also the country’s largest urban forest. Traffic isn’t that bad if you know the city well.

Large pockets of conservative big money in the park cities surrounded by uppity, well educated liberals who live in west elm decorated tudors with kids in private school. Uptowners who spend Saturday in the hood at the Lee Harvey’s pool and gram their friends.

Mrs. H2O and I had a condo in HP close to Lemmon and would always go to Mia's and Gloria's when we lived there. I think we did Uncle Julio's twice and one time it was us and a loud birthday party where people were screaming and chanting.

Well if you go and annex a lake 15 miles from town does it really count as "In the city limits" Sure, it is technically Dallas but you have to drive through Mesquite and Garland to get there
