Such an evil system
To be honest I have been very happy with their service and every month I have been lower than any other plan you could find in the city. Pretty much the only time I have been screwed is when government set pricing

Im not surprised. I think the majority of people understand the risk reward of the system. Personally I have a fixed rate plan and am comfortable with my decision.
I just think its absurd to watch the left use the griddy situation and the Texas power situation in general as a reason to increase government and decrease self reliance by individuals and at the state vs federal level.

In Houston, CenterPoint owns the infrastructure but is not allowed to sell directly to the consumer. Consumers deal with power brokers who compete with each other.
I hate it. It’s a pain in the arse if you ask me.

The middlemen energy dealers are hard to get rid of now. They're like car dealerships.
You can't buy a Tesla directly in Texas without giving a dealership a cut and you can't buy energy from CenterPoint without giving an energy dealer a cut.

You want the gov to wipe your arse too?

This just confirms that the gov whether it be local, state or federal are never really prepared when any type of disasters hit. They practice but seems like every time the shite hits the fan people are left to figure out themselves. We saw what happens when hurricanes hit, pandemics hit , bad weather etc... Advice to all especially if you have a family always have a generator, water, food , medicine etc.. for at least a few weeks because when it goes down you are likely not seeing uncle sam for some time.

How did you have 40 choices in Houston and in south la we don’t have a choice ?
Posted on 2/21/21 at 8:40 pm to Threauxdat
Well I'm back stuck with entergy for now as I moved back to LA. Its just how it was over there. Too many options to list on here
If those Latinos win that lawsuit Texans will be paying for it also

Not when the system is rigged against them in the long run. It's predatory by nature.
Income and sales taxes are predatory. A company telling you to go to a competitor so that you can save a bunch of money is the exact opposite of predatory.

Royce Pierce and his wife, Danielle, who live in Willow Park, west of Dallas, have been watching their electricity bill tick up by nearly $10,000 in the last few days for their three-bedroom home. While the family told NBC News they consider themselves lucky because they’ve had power
I’ll bet you that $10,000 that they voted for Biden. That is a RIDICULOUS fricking statement.

Im not surprised. I think the majority of people understand the risk reward of the system. Personally I have a fixed rate plan and am comfortable with my decision.
I'll stick Bulb for a few billing cycles but I might jump back to Griddy. You just have to be proactive and ready to switch if things get squirrely.

Since the family is on a variable rate plan with Griddy, the company automatically debits the bill as they use electricity. Danielle said she closed the debit card connected to their electricity bill because Griddy wiped it out.
They’re retarded for
1. Having variable rates. Never get variable rates on anything due to unpredictability. It’s gambling basically
2. Doing autodraft on a card on something with variable rates

So I just got my January bill and these people already got a bill for this week?
I don’t have griddy, just a more traditional provider in the Houston area. I can see my electricity usage in 15 minute increments - there is a lag time of 24 hours though so it’s not real time data.

Except power companies don't operate on principles of capitalism. They have a monopoly.

The choice they have is an illusion. In 99.9% of homes there is only one set of power lines going to the property. The only choice they have is for a middle man that is mandated by the state of Texas.
Imagine if Louisiana passed a law saying you are not allowed to buy power directly from Entergy but you have to go through a dealer. There are some other market forces at play in Texas that don't exist in Louisiana because consumers can basically demand green energy and whatnot. They become a bit of a noisy neighbor because you still have to build out natural gas capacity for whatever you have tied up in wind or solar.
Texas pays more for electricity on average, than people do in Arkansas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma. This is a fact.

Shouldn’t be a shite show. Just tell them to go get fricked with a bill like that.
