TexAgs Hit With Patent Infringement Suit

This is a first that I’m aware of - TexAgs was just sued in SDTX for patent infringement. Plaintiff’s attorney is well known to represent trolls for a quick settlement (I.e low six figures). Pretty bad to go after a message board.

I thought the EDTX had the rocket docket
What's the patent? Is this like the guy who tried to sue podcasts b/c he said he patented the concept 10 years ago? Is this a patent on message boards or something more technical?

When do we start a Tigerdroppings posters union. Negotiations for unbannings, salaries for clicks.

EDTX does but he can’t hold venue there.
Patent relates to authenticating a webpage - basic stuff. He’s sued on the patent for various types of defendants (banks, website operators and even a pickleball company)
Not the same guy.

It’s pretty self-explanatory-
TexAgs is being sued because they are using a variety of this gif to attract subscribers:

Seriously though Hou-Lawyer what are the high points/real basis of the suit?

These types of suits are usually not based on any legitimate basis. The gameplan for this attorney is the exact same in all of these suits: sue a ton of companies and try to settle early for $20-$50k a pop. If a company wants to challenge the patent or make a non-infringement argument, it’s going to cost at least $100k to hire a decent firm to defend and try and knock the patent out early. Most GCs don’t want to risk that so they’ll look for a quick out.
Plaintiff’s attorney doesn’t want to put the patent at risk either , so an early settlement is a win-win but it sucks for smaller companies where $25-$50k isn’t chump change.

We should throw these attorneys and their clients into a volcano

After more than a year of litigation, podcaster and comedian Adam Carolla has reached a cease-fire with the well-known "patent troll" claiming to hold a patent that covers podcasting.
Carolla was sued for patent infringement in January 2013. He responded by fighting back, raising almost $500,000 in a crowd-funded campaign. The parties had a trial set for next month in East Texas.
I completely forgot that Carolla "lost" in the settlement.

Apologies for the continued "dumb" questions but I'm really asking about their grounds for the suit. Is it the branding or something else?

Go on PACER, pay the $0.10 a page to download the original petition, read it, and report back.

Operation of a website. Nowadays, the plaintiff will attach claim charts to the Complaint which shows the infringement proof. Don’t have those in front of me.

Chicken if I didn't have court at 9 I would send it to you.
If I'm far back in line, I will look it up on my laptop while I wait

Given it's a patent suit, I presume the basis for the filing is quite technical and difficult for a layperson, in the technical sense, to decipher and/or summarize succinctly.
