Is this something you did yourself or had done?

I have a shop i use that does my windshield film, PPF, ceramic and tint whenever i get a new car. The film isn't as hard as PPF but you do need to heat it to get the contour of the glass right. I think it's about $300 but i get a discount for doing all the other stuff. I'm pretty experienced with PPF but i still just pay someone to do it because i don't want to burn the film with a heat gun.

bunch of mumbo jumbo generated by copilot to try & explain the $25 i paid at the super charger station to go a couple hundred miles somehow made my fuel fill up 'cheaper' than gas.

Which model do you have, what was the cost? We are getting old and the self drive would be a great convenience.

Thanks.

You're not using your EV?

A bunch of mumbo jumbo for people that are interested and want to be able to do the research themselves. Not sure why this would upset you since you seem to be someone that likes to do research about things you are doing, from best I can tell.

Have a good day.

But I would be using the EV. And I wouldn’t be paying gas tax. And the $287 annually isn’t enough to change my mind on using the EV.

Because it isn’t a HUGE problem for me.

If I want the EV, even taking aside the other potential savings I may have annually, even if I had to pay $287 as a premium for the privilege of driving an EV, that would not be a HUGE problem. It would be a factor, not something that I would look at and run screaming from.

Perhaps it is simply a rhetorical issue of stating it as a “HUGE” problem. Maybe you mean it is a huge principle problem because you don’t like paying taxes at all if you don’t have to so you drive the cheapest car possible because it means you pay even less in personal property taxes because you don’t actually care about the vehicle, you care about your principles. I’m just going to pretend that’s what you meant and move on and wish you the best of luck.

thats fine and all; we all have access to AI but i'm just pointing out in the 'real world' super charging is about on par with gasoline prices. that was my only point.

It was cheaper than gas. You'd have to have an significantly better than average efficient ICE vehicle for 25 dollars in gas to allow you a couple hundred miles of range.

Which is completely worth it

I go hundreds of miles without interventions

100% this.

Tesla's aren't luxary vehicles. People buying them now are doing for FSD. Because it's that good. The future has arrived and most people don't know it yet. But once they experience it, their mind is blown.

14.3.4 and beyond is an absolute driving game changer.

HW5, whenever it comes, will likely be exponentially better than a nearly flawless product now.

with high gas prices, i can fill up honda crv for $40 and get north of 450 miles on tank. you are saving no money, stop kidding yourself.

its absolutely the principle.

you can renew a car in many counties in tn for $29. the 'ev tax' is going up AGAIN in january by another $74 meaning that $292 "out the door" price is going to be $366 in a few short months.

you can bet your sweet arse that will go up again in a couple of years.

so yes, i consider this a HUGE problem and if you are willing to be taxed like that, more power to you.

He just doesn’t drive much so it’s not an issue for him. He fills up once a month. That’s not worth the tax to him. He has just masked that simple point in a bunch of bullshite.

A Tesla Supercharger typically costs $15 to $25 for a full charge (roughly $0.25 to $0.50 per kWh), translating to $0.10 to $0.13 per mile.

This is usually comparable to or slightly cheaper than a 30-mpg gas car costing $3.50 to $4.00 per gallon, though heavy reliance on supercharging reduces potential fuel savings

Ah. There’s the disconnect.

Fair enough. Principles are good to have.

If I want the EV, I want the EV and the tax won’t stop me because I have different priorities and principles than you do on that matter.

Well you are if you are charging at home.

Very few tesla owners are charging exclusively at superchargers.

The FWD hybrid CRV get's 40 MPG. MUCH more efficient than the average ICE vehicle. He actually agreed with my post.

thats fine and all but dont act like the inconvenience of finding charging stations, anxiety about battery health, having to pre-plan trips around your personal at-home charging habits; costs to install a tesla charger at your house (which is absolutely a deal-breaker if you dont), costs of super charging compared to gas then getting SLAPPED IN THE frickING FACE by the state after you did all this to 'do your part to save mother earth' to the tune of another $300-$400 on top of all that is no reason at all to be mad.

i'm spouting facts. anyone considering an EV better go in with eyes wide open that you didn't just buy a magic car that costs pennies to operate over an ICE vehicle.

all things even out in the end; even EV vs ICE costs.

Teslas are a huge hazard on the roads. Almost as bad as Altimas. Not bc of the cars—the cars are fast. But the drivers are mind numbingly slow and often distracted. I can always count on a Tesla going below the speed limit in a left lane or not moving when a light turns green. It’s usually a woman, or an Asian woman, or an Indian driving or someone staring at their phone.

I think we've identified the real issue, not the Teslas.
