Not to be all conspiracy theories and stuff, but now do you understand why government is pushing these vehicles so badly? With a cell phone signal they can shut off your ability to freely move around the country.

To be fair, I've watched too many rebuilding videos and seen how Tesla screwed those people over to ever consider buying one. Even though I've grown to be happy to have Elon touting free speech. Tesla is very frikky with what they will allow on THEIR cars. They consider every car sold their property or at least the whole operating system which is what the car is built around.

Maybe he should tweet at Elon. Better than going through Tesla customer service if they won’t help

Every new car is like that these days. The only way to avoid it is to drive ole cars. I think the cut off is something like 2010?

Who is “they”? Last time I checked there’s never been a Tesla disabled by LEO. Unlike GM that does it regularly.

Pretty predictable when you saw all the Twitter employees freak out when he made the initial offer. Fire up the propaganda machine.

What? Are you referring to trying to block people from screwing with the software? I’ve never heard anything remotely like this come from anyone at Tesla in all the work I’ve done with them and considering most of the involves third party owned assets (eg leases) I think it might come up. Now they do consume a metric frick load of data off their customers but that’s mostly feeding back to FSD development.

Cars shouldn’t have software let alone be network connected.
I guess it's safe to assume that you haven't bought a new car recently ICE, electric, or other.

Try to get a wrecked Tesla and rebuild it. Tesla doesn't allow it. Sure you can drive it around in limp mode, and maybe it's changed, but they disable most of what made it a Tesla.
Of course that may have changed as they gained common sense that people will want to rebuild and repair these cars. They do what they want with their software.

Apple has been doing it for years by slowing older iPhone versions, trying to force you into a new one.

So he bought a 60 and now he's pissed it's a 60?

It says 90, badged 90, has 90-type range.
If the title says it is a 90 and it was really a 60 then he probably had a casd with the person who sold it to him.
If it was bootleg 90 then it is no different than a dealership removing a tune when you bring it in to them.

Maybe back in 2015

Yes let us let the government be in control of our electric cars next that will be better
Posted on 7/27/22 at 8:59 am to rickgrimes
I believe one of the reasons governments are pushing so hard for electric cars is to have this type of control over the populace.
It'll be sold as a safety measure to prevent high-speed chases and cars from entering dangerous situations.
China Virus 2040, they'll push out an update that keeps your car from starting. You go nowhere.

They’re no worse than any other manufacturer with trying to lock down their software to prevent people from screwing with it and also trying to drive work back to their stealerships.

Tesla doesn’t sell cars….. they sell software.
