I don't know if "militarization" is the best term since it's so loaded, but we certainly need to make sure that police forces, particularly in major U.S. cities, are equipped to deal with a situation like this. It's only a matter of time before it happens here.

our police have had SWAT capabilities for decades
go watch live streams of what's going on. most police are in plain-ish clothes (with a vest) observing what's going on and establishing perimeters, etc

There are goomg to be hard questioned asked as to why that theater is not being bum rushed. Not going in is insane. It will be bad and some guys will be lost but just go.

I'm a CCL holder. I can't take on guys with automatic weapons with my M&P shield with 8 rounds.
I could go down swinging but I would have been killed.

I believe in the 2nd amendment for that exact reason. I want the ability to at least attempt to keep myself safe. frick anyone who doesn't want me to be able to do that.

Agreed - I think they are handling it in the best possible way at this time. It's just sad that this is the world we live in.

You should hear the journalist & politician on Sky News right now who are really pissed and just blasted Obama, France, & Merkel for acting like this was some sort of surprise.
They are saying this is just the beginning and its now time to go in and take back charge of the Muslim areas but kicking them out. French Politician is calling for full on assault with international governments to throw relocate the Muslim population back to the Middle East.
