I have several semi-automatic handguns, and even though my wife is more intelligent than me by a large margin, the only type handgun she can seem to remember how to operate is a revolver. She has a S&W 38 "ladies" model. Simple to load, or verify if loaded, pull the trigger it shoots.

Full sized .357mag revolvers are the answer for anyone who doesn't shoot enough to be very good at operating a semi automatic.

If you are asking the Internet what type of handgun you should get after saying you basically know nothing about them,

You aren't ready for a handgun.

Springfield XDM 9mm is my truck gun. Everyone who has shot mine has gone and bought one. 19 rounds and it's very comfortable to blow through 150+ rounds at a time.

Ruger LC9 is my conceal carry. It is what it is, a super concealable, reliable semi. It's not that fun to shoot more than a few magazines through.

Glock 19 would be another option for you. Small and proven reliable. Plus 9mm ammo isn't that expensive if you wanna blow through some rounds

girlfriends brother has one. FTF at least once a magazine everyone we go to the range.

If you really do just want a self defense pistol don't get a .45 stay with a 9mm, .357 or .40, .45 will blow through your target AND whatever is behind it terrible home defense round

I've got 3 different Rugers. .45, 9, .44 mag. All are sweethearts.

The good thing about a Ruger is that if you run out of bullets you can just throw the whole gun at the intruder and still probably kill him.

Rugers weigh a ton. At least my .40 does anyway.

You should pick up a ruger revolver. They are extremely heavy.

Springfield XD-9 is my daily carry. I love that damn gun, but it's going in the safe as soon as I find that tan Colt 1911. I have a Glock 21 in my glove box. My Judge is in my nightstand and my wife has her Colt on her side of the bed. She carries an XDS-9 with a Glock 22 in her car.

It's amazing. 19 + 1. Easy to go through 200. Came highly recommended to me. And I recommend it to everyone.

We should all get together one night and hit up corks and canvas, or whatever that place is.
