This was a thread about your childhood Christmas. You could've just stayed out of the thread. This is like posting in a thread about Apple Pie: "I don't eat apple pie. I'm allergic" Completely pointless.
Yeah, but then he can’t show us how enlightened he is

My grandparents would either visit us or we would go to their house. Usually a few days before Christmas. My grandmother would let us open one present per day up until Christmas day when we would open what was left. Was a lot of fun for my childhood self.

We would go to my grandparents on my dad's side for christmas eve. Play with my cousins and enjoy the christmas ambience. Wealthy uncle would buy us a roast and huge shrimp tray. Would go back there on Christmas day to eat a nice meal and see what everyone got for gifts. We would then go over to my grandparents on my mom's side and give each other gifts and eat. It was all very enjoyable and nothing too crazy ever happened.

While we were there and visiting at my aunt’s house, my cousins were excited to show me their gift. It was a motorbike! Then I found out the truth. It was supposed to be my motorbike but we got sent overseas. My parents ended up selling it to my Aint and Uncle for my cousins. I enjoyed riding it at their house, but I was so jealous that they got *my motorcycle*.

This might be the saddest cope I've ever read.
It is.
My family also did not celebrate Christmas.
I'm not as angry about it as Roger though
When I was a kid, I would just lie and make up whatever presents I wanted to my friends, then when I got to be a teenager, I leaned into because I thought it was cool that we were different (much like Roger still today), but when I became an adult, I realized it was mostly just my parents didn't want to deal with the stress and bullshite, so they made up religious reasons to not celebrate. I get it.
But now that I have a family of my own, we celebrate. And enjoy seeing the traditions build through my kids. It is special.

I still have the baseball version of that game.
I had the baseball too. When you hit a home run the field lit up. You could tell when the battery was getting weak. The sound and lights were lethargic lol

What changed for yall to start celebrating in your teens?
Celebrate is a strong word but we got presents. The addition of a sister and a new religion.

None of that is a lie. You’re in your 60’s, you’re from the Shreveport area, and you now live in the Mendenhall apartments (bloc) in Juneau
Also, I’m not an addict, that would be you

My grandmother would make us sit down a few weeks before Christmas and fold Reader's Digests that she would then spray paint to make little Santas
We did this too, but to make Christmas trees, and required several books to make a full one. Also made Advent trees and decorated with handmade ornaments, yes we were poors.

Orthodox celebrate on Jan 7th, I believe. Russian Orthodox.
A lot of Christian denominations didnt celebrate Christmas at one time, including Southern Baptists.

Always had a real tree, the whole house decorated and a fire going Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Presents under the tree and Santa came and left unwrapped presents.
