Yesterday my wife returned from WalMart with this story. She was approached by a woman who ask if she were a nurse. My wife replied "No, are you injured or sick?, if so I will get you some help." The woman answered that she was not and then offered to give my wife her drivers license if she would pay for a prescription for her mother. She said that her eighty-four mother was outside in the automobile and she left her money in the vehicle.

My wife added that the woman could pass for eighty-four and told her that she had no cash and most people use plastic these days. The woman walked toward the pharmacy.

Given that it would not save her a return trip into the store from the parking lot for the promised reimbursement what did she hope to gain for cooperation? Could it be a fraudulent drivers license? Could it possibly not be deceitful? Is this an old scam?

Have you watched the Pharmacist? She's lucky she wasn't shot.

I have no idea what you are even trying to say in your OP. I just wanted to recommend to you that you watch the Pharmacist, because it's pretty good.

I'm assuming the cost of replacing a DL is less than the cost of the pharmaceuticals in question. Or they don't really need a DL.

I'm wondering why the first question was if your wife is a nurse.

As somebody suggested below, the scrip might be a fake and they wanted you to take the risk of trying to get it filled.

Probably a fraudulent scrip & license both plus you never would've gotten your money back.

Good guess but she went to the walmarts near English Bayou. It actually is a very clean store.

Our confusion would be less if we had an idea of why she was approached with that question. Though someone might have an idea.

this seems like a good job for the pharmacist to investigate.

So this woman wanted your wife to take someone's license and go buy her mother's prescription because she forgot her money in her vehicle?

There is no telling what bright idea that person came up with.

She could have possibly wanted your wife to go get the prescription so that when she goes pick it up, they will tell her "someone just picked it up for her". She will ask who.. They describe the person who picked it up and they would tell her that the woman had the mom's driver's license.

She would get the prescription from your wife.. Keep it, then go tell her mother that she can't get her prescription filled because someone had a fake ID of the mom and was able to get her prescription.

Was the prescription for pain meds, xanax, etc?

Addicts are creative as hell when it comes to getting their next fix. I've seen someone try to claim someone broke into his truck and stole his prescription so that he could get a police report to bring to his doctor so that his doctor would write him another prescription. The police didn't see any sign that someone broke into his truck, he didn't get a police report. So what did he do? Go to the next town and try the same thing..

No, the woman wanted the money to pay for the prescription.

She offered her own drivers license as collateral for the cash payment. Upon my understanding the woman would repay the money either by returning to the story or going to the vehicle upon leaving he store. At any rate my wife did not comply.

My wife did not ask what the prescription was written for but pain meds seems reasonable.
