The two older members at 06:10 and 07:18 were old drinking buddies of mine. They went in together to buy The Library (presently Northside Lounge) from Joe Anselmo in 1991. Great, great guys.

If you ever wanted a lesson in how to be a bartender and handle a throng of people all trying to get drinks at once, Murphys on a Wednesday night or any Thursday night that Drivin & Cryin played was the place to get educated. Loved their shirts that had the Grim Reaper standing in a graveyard of headstones with the names of all the other bars that hadn't made it. Ben Wynn really fricked up a legendary spot.

I lived in that crap house back in '91. And yeah I remember that smell. Frat house parties were awesome beer, shots, you name it. Drinking age was 18. Man that was some good times.

Hell, in the late 80s, there would be a keg social at the ROTC building once a month on a Thursday afternoon. Definitely not the rager that would take place at the frat houses, but it gives you an idea of the culture on campus in those years. Probably why it took me 6 years to graduate.

Monday Night Band @ the Caterie

I went to LSU and stay at Kirby from 93-95. Had to take a mandatory year off of college after that!

My favorite memory is giving plasma for drinking money. You would get $13 the first time in a week and $20 the second. There were bonuses if you made two appointments in consecutive weeks. I think you topped out at around $180 a month if you hit all of the bonuses. The place was full of homeless people and college students.

Boones Farm was $1.99 at the time. Zima was popular. Every night during the week had a drink special. $0.25 draft was popular at the Tiger Den, but got killed off by $0.05 draft at another place.

Sports was the most popular bar when I was there. Murphy's was also popular with the frat group. When they played the Tiger fight song, the bartenders would jump on the bar and free pour Jager into your mouth for as long as you could take it. I got very used to that taste.

I have fond memories at Kirby. Lot's of parties playing 3 Man, quarters, Boo Ray, Spades, ect. There was even a fun night that started with turning Trivial Pursuit into a drinking game featuring Flaming Dr Peppers and ended up at Big Daddy's in the Quarter.

In a 15 hour week, I would maybe go to 3 classes. Big surprise when I flunked out of LSU. (graduated UNO later). I would generally get up around noon and eat lunch. Then I would hit up the rec center that afternoon for basketball until Dinner. Eat Dinner and head back to the Rec until late. Shower and start drinking for the rest of the night. Same schedule I try to follow on vacations today.

Had a friend that was a trainer on the basketball team. He got me invited to some late night games in the basement of the PMAC. That was really freaking cool.

I did join a frat but wasn't heavily involved. It was fun and opened me up to a different side I would have missed. I was against the idea when I started college but it ended up being very enjoyable. Made a lot of good friends and had some epic times.

LSU sports weren't very good. Football was bad but a lot of fun. Basketball was going to be great with Randy Livingston, but we remember how that turned out. Baseball was great, though.

Fraternity bid nights were the best in the late 70's to early 80's!! The Saturday before school started, fraternities gave out there final bids!! Each freaternity had catering keg trucks with 20-30 kegs on there front lawns. You can only imagine what went on and how the night ended. And then that won't be half of the story!!! Undoubtedly the wildness night of the year. I lived in Power Dorm my freshman year. It was full of puke the next day!! The fraternity front lawns were mud baths and stunk for the hole week after!!! Glad I experienced these awesome times at LSU!!!! And there are so many stories I forgot!!! Thank goodness I bought a lot of Party Pics!!!!
