The further you get away from any major interstate, the more the town DOES look like something out of the third world.

Look at Ferriday.

That’s one way of putting it lol. Another way would be a completely black university.

Vicksburg gets worse by the day. Natchez has some nice qualities. 2 private schools are good. I think ACCS is better, Cathedral is in the hood. Its a quiet town. A few good doctors but I'd head to Baton Rouge or Jackson for real health issues.

If you go to Jackson, it will be long turnaround time between setting an appointment and seeing a doc, especially with a specialist.

Had that issue with one stepdaughter who was in north MS and had trouble getting appointments in either Jackson or Memphis, to the point where docs would leave the facility between setting appointments and the day they were supposed to be seen.

Cathedral is in the hood but it’s been at that location for 100+ years.

Cathedral is a far superior education.

LOL. That is coming from someone who probably lives in a mobile home in Opelika.

There has been two separate occasions this year where stray bullets hit cathedral school and they also found a dead guy one morning when arriving that tried breaking in at night and fell. But sure, it’s better than ACCS

Both Vicksburg and Natchez have lots of history. Are either cities “woke” like Jackson?

It wasn't considered safe in the 60's. Nearly everyone who worked at the International Paper Company mill in Natchez lived across the river in Vidalia.

ETA:
I hope it's in much better shape today. It has some beautiful areas. It's an easy drive down to LSU for games. The year Katrina hit, my dad and I stayed there, and drove to BR for two games.I was born there. Stayed in McComb for another games.

Please explain.

And it doesn't matter in which town you live in, if you don't have family close by, you are probably not going to like it.

I’ve lived in Natchez for the past 20 years. It has its good and bad. The crime has gone up recently. Great for deer hunting for sure. Balloon race weekend is always a good weekend! Just like any city it has issues but not the worse place I’ve ever lived!!

Grow up, Peterpan. Norm ran the school into the ground. Superior? Then why are the Marchbanks and others jumping ship? The truth is both schools have their strengths and weaknesses. Good teachers and bad. Superior in the fact that the parents are all credit card rich then sure.

Don’t know anyone personally either but can tell you that I live in a neighborhood close to Walmart and can sit on my back patio and listen to gun shots at night. Here recently it was several nights in a row.
