Insurance south of I10 is drastically more but there’s not many places north of I10 north of LC for them to expand so the only place is SE LC towards Holmwood.

Thanks, I was curious if maybe it was a little bitty lake that had a fairly big town grow up next to it.

One big plus although it’s not technically in LC would be its proximity to both BR and Houston.

You can go to LSU events and not require a hotel.

You can go to Houston events and not require a hotel.

As a person who likes urban living but not big city living, that was always one of my arguments.

What I need from big cities is rare and only needed a few times a year, and, like you said, you can easily make a day trip or weekend trip without too much drama.

Houston/BR are 2-ish hours away

Nola/Galveston are 3-ish hours away

Dallas, Austin, and the MS coast are 5-ish hours away.

Yep! I can go to LSU events or Houston shopping w the wife without too much trouble, or now to NOLA to visit the college student.

I can have my boat in the water pretty much anywhere in less than 15 minutes from the house. Most duck hunts are 30 minutes from the house.
You don't get that in Lafayette.

If you like being around operators, pipefitters, welders, scaffold workers, etc it's the perfect place for you.

The financial sector is tight there, and for good reason.

Best Sports Bar? Or is it more of an area where most people are going to be at their families houses for games?

There is Walkons, Buffalo Wild Wings and Fat Pats. They will be building a Twin Peaks - hopefully soon. The Draftkings Sportsbook at the Golden Nugget is as good as some in Vegas, but pricey. As far as crowds it really depends on the time of year, sport and team.

I do want to add:

Although many of the women loose, Lake Charles has one of the highest per per capita rates of good looking women.

You hang with the wrong kind of crowd if you're going to go to an LSU game and someone is sober enough to sit in traffic and drive two hours west.
