That was Don Breaux. Used to be the GM of Don's. He had a Subaru WRX wagon before the Lotus. But Don Bruno was the owner. I believe Don Breaux is now one of the higher up managers at Alfred Miller.

Thanks! That's awesome. Would have never have known that without posting that here!!

Not what it used to be (not that it was ever a large private school like OLQH). I went to St. Margs back in the late 90s and it was great. The hurricane did a toll on it, as it did to much of the LC.

It is slowly coming back. Like you said, hurricane did some work to it but the initial contractor they hired for remediation did just as much damage. Ripped up classrooms they shouldn't have, stole laptops and equipment, etc. If it wasn't for that, they would have been back in their buildings a couple of years ago. The big hurdle now will be tearing down and rebuilding the gym/family center.

I'm a big fan of their principal as well. If you want someone who genuinely treats your kids like family, you can't do much better than her. She's also a good ole girl from Cameron so she doesn't put up with any nonsense.

Thank you, King, I appreciate the effort.

Specifically I am seeking intel for the bridge project a few miles further west near the confluence of I-10 and I-210. About six months ago a DOT employee told me I-10 was planned for to be three-laned in both directions somewhat parallel to Pete Manena Road extending to Prater Road from Sampson Street.

Avoid Westlake. It’s full of assholes.

Source: I’m related to about half of the town. I might be the problem, but I prefer to think it’s them.

How likely is it that this gets funded and completed?

I'd buy a house in LC with no regrets if this was there. My biggest hang up about LC is that there's no way I could get around by bicycle.

the rail is done, just finished. the other phase has started

from the area i live in, you can easily get downtown by bike, around the neighborhoods 2-10 north very easy.

south of town not accessible until the that last phase is finished.

grew up in LC and still have family there. Loved it. You can do much worse.

The south side by LC country club and The Shadows is an awesome place to live. I miss the trees and charm.

Ture story... When I was in high school I used to do some "cone racing", usually out in the parking lot at Burton. One time I got paired up for cone duty with a guy that had a Lotus, which I thought was incredible. When I walked up he said nice to meet you, "I'm Don". And I put it together as I saw his tow vehicle truck had a big Don's Carwash sign on the back.

I worked there while I got my head right.

Guiding in vehicles, greeting customers and vacuuming one side.

Had a lot of fun.

True story. In high school I applied to Don's like 5 times and was rejected. Same as the movie theaters. I ended up getting hired on at Hong Kong by the mall

Me too. That area (all of LC but especially that area) got wrecked in Laura. I'll forever have the image burned into my head of pine trees being stacked 15+ feet high lining both side of Ishles from W Sale to Country Club.

I spent many Fridays at the seafood buffet there in the late 90s. Those snow crab legs + drawn butter...

I associate Lake Charles with a lot of lucrative blue collar jobs. It's not the prettiest place, but they are trying to improve it especially along the lake.

At some point during the Jindal admin, Lake Charles was seeing more private industrial investment than any other metro in the country. I think that was when Sasol got started along with 3-4 big expansions nearby.

If purchasing a home, I'd consider Moss Bluff just to have a little extra buffer from potential storms. But otherwise the south side off Ham Reid is fine near that new Rouses- comperable to Gonzales. The stuff off Shell Beach in town is nice. That's kind of the extent of my neighborhood specific knowledge though.
