The problem with eating horses not raised specifically for slaughter is all the meds even pet horses are given. Most are marked not for use in animals meant for human consumption.

She sent death threats to who, the horse? Cause it sounds like the horse was already dead.

Yeah but they put it in the wrong order, so we gotta roll with the punches

The only difference between your dog and cattle is that the dog was cleaner and easier to get in the house. It’s still an animal
I don’t (knowingly) eat dogs tho

Can we all agree that nothing said on any publicly viewable comment section on the internet should be called a "death threat"?

Has anyone discussed the fact that the horse populations are exploding and have actually started to damage the ecosystems they live in? Mostly because they over consume resources out west.
Not only is this an issue for other wild animals and cattle ranchers, but wild horses consume so much that even their own herds are malnourished.
A lot of tax dollars go to corralling them. We used to be able to slaughter them and sell them for meat to other countries but the PR battle is a tough one to sell for anyone that doesn’t deal with the issue. That’s in no smal part because of how Americans view horses as this one woman has unfortunately learned.
It’s a fascinating issue that most people don’t realize even exist.

Well, I wouldn’t eat an animal that was once a pet. But what’s wrong with it? Her body received nourishment from the animal. Didn’t go to waste and the poor animal was doomed anyway.

Yea. That’s a little fricked up imo. Eating horse is like... last resort type shite. Even then.

What’s wrong with not wasting meat? If I was offered I wouldn’t say neigh.

Horse is pretty normal as food meat in much of the world.
It isn't tough, it isn't stringy; it is usually somewhat lean because of body structure. Its solid as a cold cut.
GTFO with this 'Oh noes, my pet!' nonsense. Pet pigs are just as delicious as mass swine pork farmed ones, so long as you aren't medicating the crap out of them.

The mongols, and really any horse people throughout history, have utilized horses as meat.
I don’t understand the taboo.
