I'm sure there are statistics somewhere that validate my claim. Regardless, parents play the biggest role in situations where teens feel the need to runaway.

Doesn't have to be abuse, could be overbearing, to restrictive, neglect, abuse, or just plain ol bad parenting

There was police all around, and I watched them go to the gate. Fair was a success in terms of safety.

rather presumptive don't you think? I know lots of good parents who do all they can for their kids and the kids make poor choices- run away, wreck the car, drugs, drinking, thuggery. I agree a lot depends on parenting, but sometimes you just can't fix (teenage) stupid. Prayers to the girl and her family regardless.

Get off your high horse. No matter how good the parents are, kids are still prone to dumb decisions. You can do everything right: hold them accountable for their actions, praise the good, show them you love them, etc. and they'll still be perfectly capable of mistakes.

Mistakes, sure. Running away? Nah. All it would take is a 10 minute conversation with the parents and I'll tell you what went wrong.

Exactly.
Everyone knows families where multiple kids were raised under the same roof by the same parents with the same structure and turn out completely different.
It's likely that a runaway 15 year old is in a less than ideal situation but it's not a forgone conclusion.
