Technology in new cars
Just a heads up when considering a new car with new safety features like adaptive cruise control- I had to replace a windshield after something struck it hard enough to cause a crack, which spread to a major crack. Replacement windshield cost about $300 + $300 to recalibrate the sensor (required) + labor= $750. If you have a vehicle that has these sensors consider asking your auto insurance company if there is a separate windshield policy you can add on. I think it costs me $7/month.

Had a 2015 F150, good truck. Went and bought a 2019 and it's over engineered. Not a fan.

No, I don't want a huge screen, just Bluetooth and and a usb port does it for me.

My 11 year old ride has a nice LCD monochrome text line that can display about 10 alphanumeric symbols.
Anything would be an improvement to me
I'm considering installing a Tesla-style head unit in my '03. I don't have much use for my cassette player anymore.
It would be going from this:

Another thing I'd rather have over infotainment is a HUD. No other reason than they're cool.

The screen deal is pretty standard now among most car brands, even non-luxury

No I hate the big touch screens, I want some buttons.

I think the new Altimas did a good job of mixing a touchscreen with a classic look

Our Volvo has almost every user function in that big center screen.
Can attest. My wife's volvo has some cool shite
Yep, test drove a few SUVs and the Volvo by far had the better touch screen options. It’s basically a big iPad for the car.

Nope, bought my car to drive it

Yeah, I was wondering about the Toyota comment in the OP because a friend was in a Toyota Corolla rental last year that had a touchscreen. Obviously it was pretty stripped down, but it controlled the AC/heater and the radio.

I'll be downvoted for this but Tesla and very high end luxury cars are seriously pushing the envelope. If you want a high tech experience Tesla offers the best bang for your buck.

Is the main center infotainment screen a big deal to you when shopping for a car/truck/suv?
I feel like brands like Audi/Tesla/BMW among others have upped the game with huge flat screen infotainment screens and I hope more follow suit
I’ve been very underwhelmed when looking how brands like Infinity and Toyota seem so far behind as are some trucks.
I feel like my next car needs at least a 9/10 inch screen to future proof itself.
Any other recommendations on newer cars/SUVs that have above average infotainment screens? TIA
With all the technology going into cars and trucks, you'd think that auto manufacturer's would spend some time and money developing a dashboard that doesn't crack after owning the car for month. And progressively gets worse the longer you drive the car.

This. I actually like not having a screen in my face on the commute. Kinda wish my f150 had a smaller one.

My god those Sierra and F150s look tiny. They need to up there game
