I guess the teacher shouldn't really care about the students learning environment. Should have just let the kid continue to disrupt and distract the entire class. Education isn't really important anyway. Teacher should have been planning what to do on his/her week long Thanksgiving vacation coming up soon.

These threads are always great for the crowd that believes that certain adults; teachers, cops, clergy, etc, can do whatever they want to minors under the umbrella of "discipline." If your version of discipline would get your face rearranged by someone your own age, it's probably best to rethink using it on someone else's kid.

Disruption? Hell no. This should not be tolerated. Toss his arse. But after writing "focus" on this kids face, do you honestly think anything productive happened after that? You're high! Not much that's more disruptive than making a spectacle of a student.

Fire the teacher... For that? The kid is distracting the class, the teacher just writes "focus" on the kid... And the teacher should get in trouble? No wonder our education system has been in decline.. Teachers can't do anything without it being a big deal...

When I was in school there was a student so disruptive, that the teacher brought in a refrigerator box and made the student sit inside of it. The teacher cut a window that faced the board and put a slit on one side to feed papers to the student.

Yes, criminal charges is way too extreme.
I could understand a firing, but I hate to see people lose their job unless it's really ridiculous.. so I would at least give a temporary leave of some sort first..

my teachers used to kick the bottom of your desk as hard as possible, bloody noses were not rare..

Obviously not catholic school. That would have been nothing when I was a kid. Kids used to get hit with thrown erasers, hit with meter sticks, etc. If your mommy didnt like it, you were free to leave. There were 500 on the waiting list to get in.

Public humiliation is basically the only discipline left to teachers.
I had a teacher who would throw a dodgeball at you if you fell asleep in his class (RIP Mr. Sollie). Kids these days are too soft.
