I mean... we shouldn't go out of our way to offend them. If they ask politely to be called a certain name, I'm fine with it. Just don't get furious if I accidentally frick it up. And don't ask to be called Ze or They or anything else made-up.

I think the teacher made a fair compromise, but this new progressive social agenda isn't about compromise, it's about full authoritarian control. Any dissenters will be crushed to the fullest extent possible

I agree with the teacher's opinion that it is bullshite, but it also seems like he's a drama queen that made a big deal about it.
He could have addressed the shim as it's name (which he agreed to do) but he publicly declared his refusal to use the pronouns (which he likely rarely even had need to do). He could have just not used the pronouns or not ever even call on him/her and just ignored it and avoided the whole situation.

He’s not going to jail. He’s not in any legal trouble.
