It would be no different than the Florida state players ripping the shell off the frat's pet turtle. It's fricked up.

yall know people feed live mice to their pet snakes all the time, right?

Which is a natural part of the food chain. A human feeding a sick, live puppy to a snapping turtle is sadistic and unnatural.

It would have been euthanized in a humane manner if it hadn't had the misfortune of falling into the hands of a psycho. By that logic we'd use terminally ill patients as crash-test dummies.

Would it have been OK if the puppy had been euthanized and fed to the turtle?
Cos we use cadavers as crash-test dummies even now.

Still kinda weird, but sure.

What is the purpose of feeding a live animal to a snapping turtle? I can't think of a legitimate reason.

Aren't snapping turtles WAY up on the food chain compared to puppies?

Of course she did.

Because science, apparently.

How can you be higher than something that's not even on the food chain?

Dogs are completely reliant on humans for food. They don't hunt for food. There is no place on the food chain for them unless it's between dog food and Asian people.

I would fight the teacher.

I would literally pay for his Uber ride to the sonic to check some knuckles

If a snapping turtle is hungry and a puppy happens by the turtle is going to eat it.

Whole thing sounds horrible to me, but people selectively horrified.

What about a kitten? Baby goat? Lamb? Duckling?

This isn't what happened. And I doubt it's a common occurrence.

Hypotheticals like this are a stupid way of trying to diminish the severity of this story. And it would be just as fricked up if it were any of your examples.
