What is the purpose of feeding a live animal to a snapping turtle? I can't think of a legitimate reason.

I'm not defending the feeding of a puppy to a turtle. It's kinda weird, no doubt. I'm just trying to figure out if there's a difference of opinion of the dog is already dead.

I'm sure there are bits of dead who-knows-what in commercial dog chow.

I know they use cadavers (of even children) for crash-test dummies.

But it takes a sick m-fer to subject any sick animal to a brutal death by another animal. So to answer your question, it would be less horrible if the animal were already deceased.

Like I said, it's still weird, but okay I guess.

The fricked up part of this is the dog being eaten alive. That's some really twisted thinking to do that, much less subject kids to that sight.

Ah, there's the TH03 we all recognize.

Like I said, I am personally galled by this, but the selectivity of what is horrifying to people is troubling.

Fair enough. But snapping turtles do eat ducklings all the time. And you said mice to snakes is ok. (apologize in advance if it was not you).

What exactly is troubling about people being more horrified by a puppy dying a bad death than a baby mouse or baby goat dying a bad death?

Was it a pitbull puppy? If so, don't care.

How can you be higher than something that's not even on the food chain? Dogs are completely reliant on humans for food. They don't hunt for food.

Post-Katrina roving bands of abandoned dogs in NOLA say "Hello, don't look over here, nothing to see here!!" As they attack and eat anything they can get there jaws around.

Fair question. I personally think it is worse, but I am examining my reasoning.

Is it worse because dogs are pets for the most part? (except in parts of Asia where they are livestock). Or am I just fairly hypocritical myself?

Yes, this exacerbates the feelings we experience because we connect tot he puppy. Conditioning.

Look, I love dogs and I wouldn't really choose to watch a snapping turtle eat a puppy, but to be upset and think it is tragic for HS kids to see is a little too much. If they were stuck in a jungle they would see worse shite than that.

You can't hide kids from seeing shite they don't want to see. It's a life lesson.

It was junior high. They are not in the jungle.

That is what I am getting at. Is it factually worse? Goats are smart and being mammals probably feel the same pain as dogs.

Conditioning is a great word. There are some people who would be horrified by this, and care nothing about people being sold into slavery in Sudan.
