TD.com gets mentioned in article about corruption in Walker/LP schools

I've heard the number of new teachers at Walker Elementary is actually well over 20...only 5 teachers remain on staff from last school year. The turnover is in response to the principal's handling of the pill situation and her overall treatment of both teachers and parents.
The article gives background on what led to this: kindergartner finds pill on bus, he ingests some of the pill, bus driver notified principal, principal failed to notify mother and teacher and lied about contacting police. Mother raises hell, she gets banned from campus and is now being denied access to superintendent.
The principal's husband is a school board member, so of course there is corruption...this scenario is so damn cliche, like a cop-out to a movie plot.

Morgan Wesley has requested her son, a first-grader, and daughter, a kindergartner, be allowed to enroll at Eastside Elementary.

Wesley said Sunday that she has made several requests to enroll her children at Eastside but has been denied or told there is no room. The Wesley family purchased a home in the Lakes at North Park subdivision in northeastern Denham Springs, believing their children would be enrolled in the school.

Posts on Facebook and TigerDroppings.com have covered what happened in March and also commented on conditions at Walker Elementary, including the number of new teachers this year.

Chaffin did address the issue of teacher turnover, a problem both in the Livingston school system and around the state, he said. Walker Elementary has “17 new faces” on the faculty since the end of the school year in May, he said. “As an example, when I became human resources director in 2012, there were 55 new faces at teacher orientation. This year we had 199,” Chaffin said.

Now I'm proud of myself for taking a shot at Walker in one of the first posts.

This is a much bigger story than coaches messing with girls I think

It should be, but it will get buried in the end. Turnover can be a problem anywhere, but this is more than just standard turnover. It's some teachers with 12+ years at Walker Elementary suddenly bolting, with some of those citing hostile work environment.

From my understanding, this is nothing new with that principal. I've heard stories of how she treats both parents and students over the years. Banning parents from campus and making life hell for teachers. I think when this incident went down a lot of the teachers were hoping this would finally push her out, when they saw the superintendent double down on his support for the principal they got deflated.
I believe allegedly the brother/brother-in-law got arrested a couple of years back for human trafficking

Reason #8,492 to keep your child as far away as possible from a public school in the state of LA.

The school board better get their check book ready.

You see why we need vouchers and school choice? Families should be held captive by a bunch of bureaucrats in order to get the safe, quality education for their children that they are taxed for their entire lives.

The State has a voucher program in place for needy families. It's up to the private schools to accept them. A fair portion of private schools will not accept them for varying reasons, one of the most prevalent of these being that they then have to comply with public school standards and it gives the state more control of the private school than it had before.
Private school administrations do not want this or else they'd be public schools, ostensibly. It also means having to live and die by the LEAP test.

My daughter is in line to attend Walker Elem next year. What pill situation are you referring to? I searched but no luck.
Nevermind, in my haste I didn't see it in the OP.
