I got $7500 back last year but it’s because I had to write a 40k check for a sign on bonus back to the company my wife left. Had to pay the entire amount back taxes included.

I've owed since retiring from the military and continuing to work. I used to mind paying but a friend of mine said it's an interest free loan you were able to use throughout the year and you're paying it back at the end of the year.

Used to be my favorite time of the year since I normally get refund but this time I owed big and it was stressful.

Some things are starting to make sense.

So, you, Mr. Fareplay, prefer to give the government a tax-free loan for a year over keeping your money all year until the last possible minute?

Interdasting....

You might want to check your withholding. Did you incur a 2210 penalty?

Paid a little over $40k to the IRS, got a little over $2k back from the feds, a little over $100 from South Carolina and owed Georgia a little over $300. Don't remember how much state tax we paid but it was too damned much....I think it was about $12k.

If you can't do your taxes yourself in 90 days you are a procrastinating moron.....its is the simplest thing in the world to do.....it takes me about an hour start to finish to do ours and our son's.

With the extra extension last year, my 2023 taxes were filed in October of 2024. Does that mean I'm loaded?

My taxes and business taxes are always filed with an extension and I still consider myself poor.

If you're posting on this board, you're probably poor. Nothing against this board, but truly wealthy people aren't going to be posting on any forum like this, at least not often.
