You guys act like $500 a month is a lot of money to administer an estate. I tell you what, she was going to have to put up with dealing with all those greedy family members constantly demanding money. Phone calls emails, stop bys at the office-- saying no to all their bullshite reasons?. I wouldn't do it for a lousy $500 a month.

You're an idiot if you wouldn't take that $500/month guaranteed for 20 years. You act like that shite you listed is going to add up to significantly more than 2 hours per month. At $250/hour, that's actually a decent rate for a lawyer in Louisiana to bill their time for administration of a small estate

Why wouldn't her assets be split between the people she wanted it split between & that was it?
Why did it have to be drawn out over 20 years?

I would have to find the article, but one of them stated that her grandchildren's portion would be paid out to them once they were "adults". I put adults in quotes because it wasn't at the age of 18, but at the age of 20 or 21. I'm assuming so that TCA could keep receiving those monthly paychecks for a few extra years.

ETA: LINK

The youngest beneficiary (the grandkid) won't be paid out until he/she is 30 That's why it spans 20 years

TL/DR: Because Tasha is a thief, that's why 20 years

Considering that CCP (Code of Civil Procedure) article 3351 says an executor of an estate gets an amount (if not specified in the testament) of 2.5% of the inventory of the estate (before debts).
quote:

In the absence of a provision in the testament or an agreement between the parties, the administrator or executor shall be allowed a sum equal to two and one-half percent of the amount of the inventory as compensation for his services in administering the succession. The court may increase the compensation upon a proper showing that the usual commission is inadequate.

So 2.5% X $300,000 = $7,500 - the amount Clark-Amar would get if it wasn't specified that she would received $500/month.

Wow, I guess you're right. That's not too much at all.

I'm sure it's a good thing for Mrs. Plummer's grand-children that she was sent to Mrs. Jackson who inserted the compensation amount in her will. Otherwise, their grandmother's estate wouldn't have been on the hook for an additional $117,500.

Umm that's not what we are talking about. She's on the hook for 20 years worth of work , not just an ordinary open and shut admin.

There's a tutorship to pay for his education. He can't spend the money himself.

Those heirs will be hounding her for early distributions 24/7 for years. No way it will be worth it. They already bitching about $500 a month, imagine what else they gonna bitch about...

She's not going to quit her job to be the administrator. She's on the hook for some amount of work for 20 years if she agreed to accept the appointment (which she did when she called within 24 hours of Plummer's death but then withdrew once questions started piling up).

CPA or attorneys would likely have billed hourly for their work; Mrs. Clark-Amar is neither, yet was to receive $500/month (when she could have conceivably done no work at all for the trust for that month)?

Why do so many black folks hyphenate their last names?

Because they don't know their dad's, but want to "honor" them.

Probably not, but just wanted to join the fun.

I would believe it's more about honoring their mom, who in many cases took care of them.

That can't possibly be right.

And she can simply ignore them, not take their calls, and collect her $500/month. Is there anything she actually has to do other than distribute the money to the heirs when they reach a specific age?

bullshite! This dude is trying to take the blame for Tasha. If his arse was facing serious jail time for what he supposedly did I bet he'd put the brakes on that narrative.
