Same with Kenilworth
Bussing. Bussing is what happened. '86-87 was last year of basically neighborhood schools.

Godspeed
Baton Rouge along with many many many cities just like it is becoming uninhabitable. Property rights are just as central to the founding principles of this country as are personal rights.
When will enough be enough?

I do not believe that any class of US citizens should be designated as domestic terrorists such that they lose constitutional protections, no. That's a bridge too far for me.

So legally, your hands are pretty much tied. If you kill one of these thugs you're going to jail, but if you wound one and wait for BRPD to show up, use of force is justified.

Legal Definition (18 U.S.C. § 2331(5))
According to the Legal Information Institute, the U.S. code defines domestic terrorism as activities that:Involve acts dangerous to human life that violate federal or state criminal laws.
Appear intended to intimidate or coerce a civilian population, influence government policy through intimidation or coercion, or affect government conduct through mass destruction, assassination, or kidnapping.
Occur primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of the United States.
Also
quote:
Domestic terrorism itself is not a standalone federal criminal charge. Instead, prosecutors charge individuals with underlying criminal acts—like murder, arson, or the use of weapons of mass destruction—while applying terrorism-related sentencing enhancements
Sounds pretty cut and dried to me. Add domestic terrorism to sentencing guidelines. Either that, or RICO the frick out of them. We must act before we have nothing left to protect.

Kinda, though more that...

Correct

Also correct.
Though honestly, now that I'm thinking it through, because the perps were very conspicuously armed, that adds a bit of a wrinkle. You can't be reasonably expected to protect property with non-lethal force when the perp is clearly carrying lethal weapons. I assume there's likely jurisprudence on threading that particular needle, but I don't know the answer offhand.

Fortunately Dad lives in a lesser neighborhood near Tara, and drives a beater truck, so no danger of getting robbed.

Each of the three subsections are required:
quote:
(5) the term “domestic terrorism” means activities that—
(A) involve acts dangerous to human life that are a violation of the criminal laws of the United States or of any State;
(B) appear to be intended—
(i) to intimidate or coerce a civilian population;
(ii) to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or
(iii) to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination, or kidnapping; and
(C) occur primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of the United States; and
It hardly seems cut and dried to me that people committing car burglaries are doing so with the intent to do anything in Subsection B.

you don’t see how an interpretation can be made that organized criminal activity on a regular basis might be intended to intimidate a population and/or coerce/influence conduct and policy of a jurisdiction?
I do. I think the thugs do too

You can certainly make the argument, but it's incredibly weak, in my opinion. Hell, I think you'd have a hard time labeling the Mafia as a domestic terror organization, though I think it would be a vastly better fit.

and how does the mafia differ from black gang criminality? You described the group as a “crew” yourself earlier in this thread.
Organizing to commit crime is universally the same thing whether black teen or middle aged Italian. I understand it’s a stretch but are we going to use the tools at our disposal that are most likely to work, or not?
Because what we are doing now is most definitely not working

So you have to wait for BRPD to show up if you see one of these thugs breaking into your vehicle? You're basically fricked

The mafia actively engaged in violent activities with the intent of influencing elected officials. A "crew" that breaks into cars isn't looking to influence anything beyond how heavy their pockets are.

As I said before: sometimes your only solution is to call your congressman

It should be perfectly legal to wear a ghillie suit, camp out in the bushes, and kill thieves breaking into cars.
