It’s in Jackson. Super Christian. Millsaps doesn’t have a law school.

But Mississippi State does not have any control or affiliation with the law school outside of this program that I’ve seen. It’s separate from Mississippi State.

While it is separate from Mississippi State, there is a contractual partnership between MSU and the MC Law School, so they do have direct affiliation with a law school through that agreement.

MSU, MC partner for accelerated law degree program

quote:

Mississippi State and MC’s School of Law formally signed an agreement Wednesday [Aug. 21] allowing qualified MSU students to enter MC’s Juris Doctor program before fully completing an MSU bachelor’s degree, accelerating the total length of undergraduate studies plus law school by one full year.

MSU students who have completed 75% of the coursework required for a bachelor’s degree will be eligible for admission to MC. After the student successfully completes the first year of the J.D. program (30 hours), MSU will award the appropriate bachelor’s degree. Then, after completing requirements for the J.D. degree, MC will award this professional diploma.

This new partnership between MSU and MC Law allows us to better serve Mississippi by pairing our state’s largest land-grant university and its only capital city law school. The arrangement offers a tremendous benefit to the students of both institutions, and it will help to keep our brightest future lawyers in the state.

There are plenty of Southern grads who dominate in the courtrooms and have very successful practices.

In the 1990s, the NOLA downtown law firms were filled with senior partners who graduated Tulane Law between 1950-1970. These people were making the hiring decisions, so if you wanted to practice in NOLA, Tulane was a good choice. Not saying that that there was a big difference between the quality of the LSU and Tulane law school, but you stood a better chance of getting the job that you wanted if you went the Tulane route.

UF fell quite a bit

The only A&M lawyers I've met have been idiots

And a lot of those Tulane senior partners got disillusioned with their own school for making the civil law curriculum optional.

I feel like USNWR is useful, but only if you do sort of a 5 year overlay and use that

Too much spiking and collapsing otherwise. A&M's meteoric rise makes a little more sense than say, Alabama's spike and collapse did (which has equalized appropriately IMO), given it's a massive school with major resources in a big state starting from mostly nothing. I don't know if it's a top 22 law school right now, but seems reasonable to expect it'd be in that 25-40 range.

They must not look at bar exam passage rates.

They probably look at which schools grease them up the most for higher rankings.
